Great day fishing. Had a nice salmon dinner !!

The 6-hour trip with Captain Chris Hoag and my fellow anglers was a wonderful learning experience for fighting big salmon and what it really means to seek this important and prized fish species. The experience of all anglers aboard the Seductress varied, but we were all able to have several chances to get hands-on experience reeling sizeable Coho, Pink and Chinook salmon. I’ll never underestimate the strength of a 23”-inch fish hooked at 45’-feet again. Thank you Captain Hoag for the awesome experience again, and I’ll be back on the water again sometime.

5 star day with 4 limits before 10 am. Chris knew where the fish were and didn’t waste any time sending the lures down or getting the fish in the boat.  Communicated well and kept everyone involved. When the fish took a little break, Chris was easy to converse with and made the trip a memory that will last for a long time. Highly recommend giving him a call and booking a trip.

HAD TO POST A FALSE REVIEW BEFORE HE WOULD SEND ME THE PICTURE HE TOOK OF OUR GROUP (and it turned out to just be a single one). He insisted on using his phone. I checked some older reviews, and found this is not an isolated incident.
I was generally less than thrilled, but we caught some fish and had good company from the other guests. I wasn’t going to even post a review, but after having to post a false one and still wait almost a week for him to email the image, I think an honest review should be there. Buyer beware….

- This is the first time I’ve ever had a guide require that I bring Ice for the boat’s chest. For the money you pay, you’d expect a few pounds of ice would be easy for a captain to take care of.
- Started later than advertised and ended earlier, sacrificing over an hour of the claimed trip time.
- He was not truthful about the limits, until I specifically pointed it out, and he bashfully acknowledged. It seemed like he was pushing it because he wanted to justify going in early (which he did anyways)
- Poor coordination on where to get ice and where to meet int he morning.
- Did not seem to be concerned about educating inexperienced people on technique and was impatient with those people.
- After booking and paying the deposit, he added 10% “for taxes”
- Didn’t seem to even care that the biggest catch of the day had broken off because of a poorly rigged leader.
- Not a ton of effort went into the morning. We barely even ranged a mile from the marina. Sometimes that’s all you need, but he didn’t adjust when the bite slowed. Just kinda kept going through the motions. I’ve fished with quite a few guides, and this is not the typical behavior.

Again, I was less than satisfied but didn’t really want to write a review. Any single one of the above issues isn’t the end of the world, but everything combined left me very frustrated. After him responding, to my multiple requests for the picture he insisted on taking of us with his phone, just with links to leave a review, I felt like this must be his typical way to push for positive reviews. I don’t take well to this.

Booked an afternoon session on 9/3. Weather was great which does not always equate to good fishing. Captain Chris made no promises but my son and I caught 3 nice coho. Highly recommend this charter.
