Site fishing is the way to go. It can be offshore or on the shallows inshore. Seeing the aggressive bites is very hard to beat.

Fishing Reports

Plenty of action
Plenty of action
Oct 29, 2018 Jensen Beach
All in one week! Fishing is insane right now with no shortage of action in the sea! Doesnโ€™t matter if you just want a great fight from a veriaty of species, or dial in for the trophies, they are all right in our back yard. No need for hours of running into the deep blue! Find the fishy sections and get ready. Our main bites we were targeting for were all the big name palagics: mahi, sails, tuna, kings, and even plenty of cobia! They are all here waiting to be taken advantage of. Live bait has been great and thankfully pretty easy to load up on. Biggest suggestion is find the birds and/or the explosions of the tuna and Bonita. Stay around there and you should find a verity of species. If you are trolling, donโ€™t be scared to send a white (or your favorite color for fishing) jigs all the way back. This will most likely keep you busy all day with little tunas. This big fish have been taking down our sardines, even though I have been hearing people getting plenty of action on finger mullet. BIG RULE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR, if the bite isnโ€™t happening as good as it looks, drop the leader size to a smaller test as well as possibly switching to smaller hooks. Inshore is still on fire as well. The cold weather will have all the big girls in our favorite deep holes. Put in the time and take side notes on where bait are crashing, always keep and eye out for the tarpon blowing up. My favorite trips for inshore has been night fishing. Pretty obvious why once you get out there. Not much traffic and A LOT of hungry fish.

What a great time to fish in our region. Itโ€™s about to take off beyond belief. Biggest and best bite have been the bottom fishing. Hit any patches anywhere from 30-100ft. Big trick is to make sure you have plenty and a variety of bait. Light leaders is the trick to get the studs in the cooler. Always have some free liners out on the back, even though you might not be able to see them, doesnโ€™t mean they arenโ€™t there. If you would rather have more visual fun, run to the sand pile and chum up the sharks. The rest will happen right in front of your eyes. With this being said, go with heavy tackle. Nobody wants to feed the sharks our delicious species. Offshore will be a give or take. I have been getting great reports from a bunch of awesome anglers. Everything from tuna, cobia, mahi, sails, and the big one, SWORDS! They are here and ready for some tight line. Closer near shore can be a better day for any angler. Plenty of Spanish mackerel, big blue fish, and jacks. Great fun for all ages, not hard at all to find the fish. You can fish on land and/or just run north or south and look for either a bunch of boats piled up or my favorite, avoid the crowd and drive till you just see them skyrocketing out of the water. Best and easiest lures to use for this is Gotcha lures/ spoons/ neon jigs. They will all work just fine. Get out there and catch some fish. Most importantly, take a kid fishing. Until next time, Tighten Up Capt. Jesse B.

Dinner and a show
Dinner and a show

All started with a call from my client asking if there's any chance to get some mahi offshore right now. "Well, I believe we have a good chance while the waves are minor." Loaded up the livewell quick and easy and ran offshore, didnt take long to run into some nice action. Saw probably 4 dozen ballyhoo high-tailing out of a little weedline; figured let's run up and check it out. No guessing needed once we were 60 feet away. "Mahi, Mahi!!!!!" Got three lines out quick and brought two nice gaffers in even quicker. We slow trolled and drifted this nice patch still seeing mahi around, but none too big. Switched to some hard twitch baits and it was plenty of fun in the sun! Once we finished playing with those guys, I decided to take off while it's still early. Ended up running past plenty of boats with great reports on the VHF. Got to 300ft away from all the other boats and found what every offshore fishermen looks forward to. Found a big white debris (like a plastic table or even a piece of fence) grabbed a bunch of small pilchards and chucked them over. Didn't take more than 20 seconds to find what we have been looking for, about 40 mahi mostly small but plenty of hidden studs. For the next 3 hours was balls to the wall Mayham. Fish everywhere!!! Had three live baits out in the back, one down 60ft just in case, and us up front site fishing with Sebile lures. Man, the action was just ridiculous, and it wasn't even close to over. We kept throwing the smaller ones back and keeping the nice gaffer size fish in the cooler. Seemed like we were finding the bigger ones 50yards away from the floating debris. Best bite was after a small mahi would miss our sebile, and a stud would fly over and inhale the lure. This was the perfect example of a dinner and a show. My client was more than happy seeing all the acrobatic jumps, beautiful color, and of course the sizes that we were pulling up. Ended up leaving the spot after hitting it hard for two hours and 10 gaffers in the boat. There was still plenty of mahi under but there's no need to destroy them. We had plenty in the boat and got plenty of tight line, might as well let other anglers get their chance. We headed in, or so we thought, until we got back to 70ft and found another nice patch that we ran by. "Mahi, Mahi!" Back at it. Pitched out a bunch of pilchards again and we had them hot and ready to be pitched at. Kept two more nice gaffers out of the group and kept heading in to see if we can find some cobia or some good snapper to end the day. No cobia but plenty of snapper in an hour. Safe to say my client had a time that will Never be forgotten!! He said it before I could at the end of the day, " Well I do believe we Tightened up today" It's not always about how much you catch, but that you had a great time on another Fishing Adventure while enjoying the beautiful day and nature that the good lord gives us everyday. As always, take a kid fishing, it just might change their life as well.
