Over the past few weeks the fishing has been excellent live bait hard to find but with a bit of perseverance it pays off

Barra Bonaza

The fishing has been a Barra bonanza over the last few days with the big run in tides on the morning charter. Bait has been plentiful to gather with the cast net with the barras preference being live mullet. There has been a couple of 'horse sized ones that we have landed a also a few that have got away. you have to be patient when hoping to land one of these trophy fish and let them inhale the live mullet all the way before setting the hook. The black moon was yesterday so the tides will start to decrease over the next week and that will give us the opportunity to fish the deeper holes around the estuary that hold some monsters. Was Great to catch fresh bait before heading out. Great boat setup, years of knowledge on fishing spots, set everything up and gear was quality for river fishing. Landed a great size flathead and seen 3 croc’s sunning themselves on the banks on the way back in. Highly recommend this charter

Thanks Jacob for an awesome morning. Caught a lovely Finger mark fish and it made a very tasty lunch! Jacob was very friendly and treated us like his mates instead of customers, which made us feel so welcome. We highly recommend a day or half day our with Jacob and we will definitely go again in the future.

Captain Jacob was brilliant. Knows all the places with structure that fish accumulate at. Great boat, 7 of us and plenty of room. We caught 4 nice Trevally which we cooked on the Esplanade BBQ only a few hundred metres from the boat! Would totally recommend this trip. And a GOOD price!!

Jacob was very friendly and knowledgeable and easy to get along with. One Golden Travelly and a Dhu fish (small) was caught but that’s the nature of fishing . Yes, I would recommend Gone Fishing Cairns 👍
