Excellent experience. First charter fishing trip for everyone in the family. Captain Matt did not disappoint! He taught us all what we needed to do and coached us throughout our voyage. We caught our limit of Red Snapper, even while competing with dolphins and a shark, both trying to steal the fish we hooked before we could land them. Per Captain Matt’s instructions, my wife kept the shark occupied while it was trying to steal her giant snapper (see picture), while the rest of us landed what we could. Our fam (Wife, 15 &13 year old boys, and myself) all had a blast which is rare with teens.

Captain Matt was professional, fun, and was working his ass off, coaching, re-baiting, finding fish, and keeping us all safe. After we hit our limit of snapper, Matt found my straw hat that decided to jump in the drink for a swim and relaxing float about 2 hours prior. It is now my lucky hat that we named Gironimo.

Would I recommend?…Absolutely, in a heat beat, and with the utmost confidence!

First fishing trip at sea our family has ever taken, this was a memorial trip in honor of our 19 year old daughter…. Jared was truly amazing he even wore a memorial bracelet for our Maranda (our family was all wearing them and Jared wanted to join in on honoring her even tho he’s never met her) He was SO polite,patient,&  understanding, never hesitant in helping the family with any questions or concerns we had. He’s a total HOOT too! Because of him our family is now “hooked” literally “hooked” planning another trip just for fishing with Jared. And the BEST part we CAUGHT FISH!! These Tennesseans highly recommend 850 Charters & captain Jared! ?

We took the trip in the title. We had good weather but there was a big fishing tournament starting as we left harbor. We were really impressed with Jared navigating the wake and larger boats. Once we were out on the water, we had to hit a few different spots to get on the fish. At one spot we saw a pod of spinner dolphin which was neat. We each caught a snapper at the third or fourth spot we checked out. Had the chance to catch a couple more but let them get off the hook. Jared filleted them for us and suggested getting some blackening seasoning at Sextons across the street from the dock. We did that and fixed some blackened pan fried snapper that night. Very delicious… you can’t get more fresh than that! All and all a great time and glad to catch our first snapper!
