Background: I am a Ph.D. Research Marine Biologist with over 40+ years of fishing, boating, and research experience. I have been successfully fishing oceans, lakes, and rivers all over the world and here in Tennessee for the past 5 years.
Techniques: One of my favorite fishing techniques involves trolling with planer boards with both live and artificial baits. I find that this method produces a better quantity, quality, and variety of species. Generally it allows me to have up to 6 simultaneous bait presentations which means more fish in the boat for you!! When the situation calls for it, I also rely upon jigging and casting strategies.

A beautiful day on Lake Chickamauga yielded a variety of species, including some nice 13-14 inch crappie. All fish were trolled using jigs and crankbaits trolled at 12-16 foot depths over submerged creek flats in 18-20 FOW.

A wonderful experience that I’d recommend to anyone. Greg has unsurpassed fishing knowledge and put us on a lot of good fish. New, clean, well-equipped boat too! Had a lot of fun and can’t wait to get out with him again.

The scenery was beautiful around the lake, abundant wildlife and steady action with fishing made for an excellent day. Fresh crappie fillets were an additional bonus. Highly recommend a trip with Greg Smith, very well prepared and easy going.
