We didn't know what to expect when we booked a crabbing charter. We selected a 4 hour trip but were finished within an hour or so. The crab pots are set and you ride with the Captain to check the pots. The captain does all the work to pull the pots in, sort the crab, rebait and drop the pots again. The captain loaded the catch into our coolers once we returned to the dock and we took them to a fish and tackle shop that offered a cleaning and cooking service. It was quick, the service was friendly and the crab was delicious! Winchester Bay is a beautiful bay with a nice fisherman's pier. This is a wonderful trip for a family or if it's your first time chartering an ocean boat. We hope to book a longer fishing charter at Winchester Bay.

Fishing season is better in the middle of July than the beginning of July, (early July is too early in the season to catch salmon). It is a beautiful area to fish in. Be sure to dress in layers and bring a sack lunch.

Dress warm, and I was happy that I brought rain gear and rubber boots for the boat.

Take some Dramamine an hour before any trip on the ocean. It will make your trip much more enjoyable.

Book your trip with Apocalypse. No questions asked. They are my go to guide. I had heard nothing but good things about them before my trip. Afterwards, I understood why I heard all the good things.

Bring warm cloths. Even if its warm on shore it will be chilly on the water. Need good weather for access to the ocean.

Great town on the water with friendly people and plenty of fishing opportunities.
