What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Dana Point, California for the first time?

Captain Steve, I had just posted my review of Wednesday's trip when I noticed an email from Fishing Booker. I read the review from today, August 16th and they evidently had the trip that was meant for me & my fellow anglers. So, I guess I fished two days early, that's all. Oh well....that's the makings of yet another fish story. Best of luck, maybe we'll try it again sometime.

If you are experienced fisherman go for the whole day trip, otherwise take the whole family for a great time fishing near the shore. Have a good time, there will be lots of action. Be ready to yell out "fish on".

If you are a novice or not familiar with fish species during your planned trip (time of year), do your research.

Always bring a cooler with ice for your fish. Bring sun block and a jacket. Dress in layers it can get cold and hot in the same day. We went in the morning.

Cloudy in morning but cleared up and got some sun. Cooler than expected out on the water, bring a sweater!

The bite was a bit slow this time around, I think we are in a transitional period waiting for the tides to shift.

Dana Point is a beautiful harbor, short ride to get to the fishing grounds and plenty of action! Highly recommend these guys

Yes, totally recommend, but November is the off season and there’s not many fish. Next time we’ll go longer and go out further.

Don’t come with any expectations. Enjoy being out in the water and the opportunity to do some world class fishing.

Have fun it doesn’t have to be a big fish to have fun and take a picture. Find a crew that knows where to go

Hit up captain conor, and book a full day. Half a day is definitely not enough time because it goes by quicker than you think.

Book now and stop looking! Yeah his is the trip. Took my two boys on their first trip and we caught 30+ fish!

Call Steven at rockin reel if you really want to catch fish. Steven worked hard for us and put us on fish all day. Great guy that knows what he's doing.

Easy to find lots of parking, clean rest rooms(!), vending machine, and cheap ice vending machine, nice harbor in, and out access. Bases are pretty much there for you.

Learn the equipment you'll be using before you leave the dock. Don't try and figure out a complicated reel set up without asking questions first.

Dana Point is a beautiful harbor with all the amenities and not too crowded! If you're going for your first time, make sure to look up Rocken Locken, He has knows the spots!

They made the whole event simple from planning, getting ready and the trip itself! Followed up to ensure that they had everything they needed to have a great experience.

Find an experienced fisherman to go out with. It’s a beautiful spot to spend the day too!

It is a beautiful place, I had never been too! I plan to go back and explore the shore soon!

Maybe it was a bit too cool yet. Another 5 degrees probably would have helped the dishing.

Weather can be cool and wet, not necessarily what one envisions for southern California.
