The captain most definitely did his job and we caught many amazing fish. Although his personality and hospitality of the boat was lackluster. His attitude towards our enthusiasm was almost demeaning. We had high hopes for a beautiful day on the water. Once we were aboard and catching fish it seamed as if the captain was unhappy in general. We expected a very enthusiastic, joyful individual who wanted a great day on the water with many fish and memories to be caught. Instead we were met with a dry and unenthusiastic captain who never gave us a proper safety rundown. My wife was treated amazing in contrast to the rest of my family. We were met with subtle hostility and barking commands. The day was coming to a close and we were all ready to ship it home to use the bathroom, eat some good fish we had caught, and end the day. But we were met with a sour attitude and seemingly an offensive tone. Not to mention he fed the swarm of pelicans fish scraps and bones, that are clearly stated on many signs not to be fed fish scraps for it can damage and/or kill the majestic birds. Overall if you’d like to go out and catch fish you most certainly will, at the expense of enjoying your trip to the fullest. If you want to have a good experience on the water than I’d highly suggest finding another captain.

This is a great spot to fish out of. In the summer months you will need to go out 30-60 miles to catch bigfer fish where the water is cooler. The 5-10 mile range from shore, the fish are smaller but plentiful and it is fantastic for beginner and intermediate anglerrs and really any fisherman that wants to just get out and have an awesome, fun, chill time catching some fish!

Check the fish seasons . We caught some red grouper , which were fun to catch, but had to throw them all back because red grouper season ended the day BEFORE we went. Which was disappointing. We will be sure to check that next time.

I am not a experienced fisher but we caught so many fish, more than we took home. I think that September is a wonderful month to fish and Nokomis is a beautiful place to spend your day!

Captain David Defederico
Not many other boats around as many fish out out of season to keep great to be out there and catch and release to help fatten them up

Easy pick up across from the Gulf Harbor Marina.
Free, public parking along Casey Key Road. Leave extra time to find parking as the lots can fill up with beachgoers on the weekends.

If fishing in February in Florida, keep an eye on the weather. February can have very good fishing days and bad if the weather turns.

I'm a pretty experienced fisherman and you'll do much better fishing with these guys then you will on your own

Absolutely, from a fisherman’s perspective, it was a 9 out of 10 (because he never gives anything a ten)

Use this charter. They are great at helping you understand and they are great at finding fish, it seemed there were always multiple fish on , the entire time we were anchored.

There's a great little bait store, on the water, Josh stopped at where you can get beverages and use a rest room before you go out. :)

Fish December to March for best opportunities. But you can still catch good fish later with a good captain like Phil.

HOT. Bring lots of water. The bite was definitely good especially when it was a little windy.
