What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Englewood, Florida for the first time?

Capt Tim was amazing! First time doing a fishing trip and I highly recommend Tim! Friendly, knowledgeable, professional, fun and funny! We caught some really cool fish and a hammerhead shark! We also loved having Lily join us! Thanks again Tim!

Unfortunately grouper was closed, so that wasn't an option this round. It closed just days before our trip, not a reflection on the trip itself, just the way of things here. A cold front pushed in, limiting how far out we could go.

The waters around Englewood are teeming with a huge variety of fish so target species with different tactics offer exciting sport to fisherfolk whether off the shore or by boat. Top marks for management and conservation of fish. Access is easy and local hospitality is second to none.

To book with an experienced captain like Tim Hermus in order to give yourself the best chance of catching fish, but even with the best captains catching fish can't be guaranteed but it's always great fun to try.

If you’re a first time fisherman, the intercoastal offers a nice place to get comfortable with your gear. If you’re experienced, the gulf is just right there and easy to access. March was a good time of year to go (March 23rd for us) as it was slightly cool to start, but warm and enjoyable enough and never TOO hot.

We have fished a few places in SW Florida in the past year. Englewood is a gorgeous community without the hectic feel of Naples or Ft Myers. We had fish on all day long. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a more laid back fishing day, where you catch a lot of fish, which is more of what my family enjoys.

We were warned! Cold fronts in the off-season can cause unexpectedly rough seas. They were about twice what the Captain was expecting... definitely made for a rough ride and I'm glad the kids decided to stay home.

Experienced & professional. Captain Lewis runs a tight charter boat. Mac-Attack is an accommodating & comfortable vessel.

Bring some warm clothing if you are fishing in the morning - dress in layers that can be removed as it gets warmer.

It sounds like the fishing picks up a little more in April and May. Next year I'll postpone our trip until those months.

Cool weather may slow the bite, so you'd better have a captain who knows what they're doing.

Awesome spots, great fish from what we experienced at least. Out in the LGI area they had plenty of old bridge posts with good fish

Freshwater fisherman should ask for advice form their captain on changing their techniques to better suit saltwater species and equipment.

Back country due safety / calmness of waters at this time of year...pretty much gonna fish even if windy....

If you are planning tarpon fishing, ask the captain if you will get to have a rod and reel in your hands

Our half day charter on March 16 was fantastic. MM Charters was the best charter I've ever been on with a knowledgeable, friendly, patient Captain. Best part of our 10 day vacation!

If your looking for variety of game fish February is not the time however if you are looking for some delicious fish to eat for the week then definitely no issues!

If Tarpon fishing, be patient! A lot of boats fishing in Boca Grande pass, so it’s a lot of jockeying for position and waiting, the fish are there, but so are many other boats!

Was there to fish with kids and have a good time and we had plenty of both with great weather. Thanks Captain Tim we had a blast and kids are still talking about fish they caught.

Be prepared for anything, being from Wisconsin The windy 70 degree day in January was a shorts and tshirt day for us, The locals were all bundled up complaining of cold

Awesome time didn’t catch a lot of fish but captain Tim was a great help even kept Ed us out a little longer to try to get more catches

There was a storm that had the tides unseasonably high. Made for difficult but interesting fishing.

So much to enjoy in Englewood, great water quality when I was there in July. Can't miss!

Take lots to drink, sunscreen, sunshirt, hat, cooling towel if you’re going all day!
