What would you recommend to anglers fishing in Placencia for the first time?

Having an experienced fishing guide makes all the difference… remember it’s fishing no guarantees … it’s a privilege just to be able to go fishing where some folks can’t…leave you ego on the dock ..watch..listen…learn and do what the guide says …lastly have positive energy ?

Be ready to move the trip if needed! We shifted a day instead of settling for a 1/2 day in the lagoon and it paid off as we were able to go to the inner reef for the majority of the next day. Forecast is unreliable even day to day so wake up early and see what the day offers!

Be patient. If the wind isnt moving, it gets very hot, and the fish are able to see swivel/weights/etc. As soon as the wind picked up a little, we moved back to the spot we started at, and caught the fish that wouldn’t bite in the morning.

Don’t ever go fishing with too high of expectations and you’ll have more fun regardless of conditions.

This was our first time fishing in Placencia in April. Grayson is the best - he grew up in Placencia and is very knowledgeable!

Fantastic place for Bonefish and large Permit. Placencia as a destination is a beautiful part of Belize to visit.

Plan a few days this time of year. Wind prevented a few trips offshore if that’s what you are looking for. It’s a nice place.

Get a good local guide. The reef is teaming with fish... for sure try the reef if possible with your charter.

It was great fun. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Placencia. Our Captain Grayson Sierra and his mate Brian were fun and attentive and service oriented.
