What would you recommend to anglers fishing in South Lake Tahoe, California for the first time?

This was the first time that I ever fished on Lake Tahoe. I am from Iowa, so I don’t do much fishing at all. I really had an unbelievably great time and enjoyed catching my limit in 3 hours. What a beautiful lake. I give this a 10!!!!

Check the season carefully before you book so you know what's hitting. If you are too early or too late for Kokanee salmon, for example, you may be disappointed in your catch. Also, I highly suggest you book your charter direct rather than through FishingBooker. They add little value, their incessant text messages are excessive, and they won't prep you for the day the way the skipper will.

I recommend calling Captain Mike Nielsen. Was recommended to me by the guy at the shop where we bought our licenses. He did not disappoint. Caught our limit, saw incredible views and learned a good bit about the area. Gorgeous day and amazing experience!

Great trip and beautiful area. Friendly people with helpful attention to learning to fish successfully. Be prepared to fillet your own fish if you take it home.

I feel like April is early this year for tahoe. Warmer days bring more consistent fishing. But getting out on a boat with an experienced captain definitely pays off

The morning bite for Lake Trout is better than the afternoon bite, but no matter when you go out, if you go with Captain Rob, it’s going to be an amazing experience.

Be prepared for winter storms and the water that goes with them. Stay warm and dry.
