Look for a +35 foot boat if you are fishing 5 or more people. Gives you room to move around and confidence in rougher water. If you are fishing with a group, set up a lottery before hand so there is no arguement when the reel starts to sing about who climbs into the fighting chair. If you think you might get sea sick, don't risk it, just take Gravol a hour before you leave.

We had a great time aboard the Ocean Hunter! We had the whole boat and Hatch was very helpful. The fishing wasn't great that day for anyone out on the water, but we still caught a barracuda and a tuna and had a gorgeous day on the water! They also sent a taxi to come get us then return us after the trip and Hatch fileted our catch for us to take home and grill!

The winds have been strong all week in Barbados but we had flexibility to move our fishing by a couple of days to enjoy better conditions on the water. Not sure if this is the case every March but good idea to build some flex in your schedule.

Please try and remember that there is no guarantee as to what you may/may not catch. I'm by no means an expert but we were advised that (possibly ?) fishing in the morning gives you more chance of a catch - but I personally wouldn't know due to my very limited knowledge of fishing.

Great place and lots of opportunities, but itโs a big area and before Christmas the fish are a bit more sparse as the waters are warm. Still, we lost a 100lb marlin and caught a 30lb+ wahoo. Not loads of other bites unfortunately but thatโs fishing! Make sure you go to enjoy the day on the sea and if you catch something then itโs a bonus in November.

Research what to bring and how to prepare for the trip. We were relatively experienced before going so no issues. Baiting lines and catching fish gets a little chaotic at times. Young children probably would find it tough. Itโs hot. If you have motion issues, prepare ahead of time. The captain cannot control the sea, donโt expect it. People often give poor reviews because the the swells were large and they get sickโฆnot the captainโs fault. Expect rough, then youโll be fine. Must be patient to fish, took an hour for our first hit and catch. Took 45 minutes for the second. Sometimes you get nothing. Be prepared, you may just be taking an expensive boat ride.

It is hard to say why this trip was such a flop and we caught no fish at all. Granted we specifically wanted to get after the larger billfish this trip out however I felt like more could have been done (switched up fishing method, etc.) the last hour or two of the trip to get any fish in the boat. It was very hot out on the water for 6 hours with the sun beating down and honestly 4 hours would probably have been enough. I wish we had not booked the fishing trip so far in advance so we could have taken the weather reports and such into consideration. We did not see other boats coming in with catches either in the marina, so I am thinking it was just a bad day/time of year for fishing.

Always remember that it is fishing and not catching. We caught three fish during our full day trip. We were able to and a Mahi Mahi, a Wahoo (King Fish) and a Barracuda. There were slow times but with the right captain and mate keeping you entertained the full day passes too quickly.
Aaron Grant
Based on conversations with the crew, October is a bit slower fishing than summer or winter. Wahoo are available but a tough bite. Same with Mahi. Barracuda are readily available though and provide a good fight and the locals eat them. We've eaten them on the island (for the first time) and found them to be excellent. If I came back solely for fishing, I would probably come in January-February

Iโm an experienced fisherman but as a first timer to Bridgetown , I canโt offer advice as to fishing in April . But I can say there are plenty of Marlin, Tuna , and Wahoo down here , and if the bait is around and conditions are good , the action should also be good . Will probably try the high season next time (November - February )

Always remember it is fishing and they may not always be biting. Captain Rob and Ryan will always do their best to make sure you can have the best opportunity to catch but you also enjoy the trip. They are experienced and will give you a great fishing experience and fun conversation

August is not the best month to target some species, and OK for others. Pick your target species and time your trip accordingly, or (like me) vacation when you can and target what species are available that month.

Find a good Captain and hope he can put you on fish. Its fishing not catching so there are no guarantees. Trolling is not for everyone we are trollers back home and if the fish are not biting its still a beautiful boat ride Better than white snow and slush on the ground and cold.
It's a great experience and you get out of it what you put into it.

Try to get an experienced captain. Don't worry about the detail of the boat, the fleet is largely the same. Fishing never guarantees fish! As long as long as your captain tries hard, then that's all you can ask. Ocean Hunter was good for us today, and I would select the same boat tomorrow.

Big Game fishing is Seasonal so please be aware of which fish are running at the time you book. This is the same anywhere you travel so do not expect miracles off-season. Excellent place to experience some tight lines no matter what your experience level. What are you waiting for ? :)

If you are from America, driving to the docks in Bridgetown is challenging. Take a taxi to the docks
Connor Miller
Apparently its slower but these fellas had to problem making it seem like the bite was on
Leonard Herman
look for turtles near the marina .. if the sargasum weeds are thick the fishing might be slow
Mario Martinez
Be very prepared for a hard tough fight when you hookup with a large marlin! EXTREMELY EXHAUSTING!! I tried posting a short clip video but did not upload
Nicholas King
Just go and have fun with no expectation as fishing relies on nature which is out of your control. Plan to enjoy the company of who you are with and the fishing should take care of itself.

The Captain and first mate did a great job of putting three WAHOO in the boat. We highly recommend this trip, boat. and crew to anyone serious about fishing in Barbados.
David Fenzel
Everything you need right here. Solid boat and tackle with experienced and friendly crew. Extremely knowledgeable staff!
Wayne Johnson
I would recommend fishing Bridgetown, but I would go during the summer one you have the best chances to catch marlin
Shaun Edmondson
Donโt go for the cheapest boat. It can be rough out there and the bigger boats handle it better. Not all crews are the same.
Derek DeBruyn
Ocean Hunter is a professional outfitter.
Started with pick-up at our hotel, everything was top notch, and Captain Robbie and First Mate Hatch worked to get us on fish.
Highly recommended!!
Chris Knibb
Be prepared for relatively high seas but that is also what brings in the big fish! These guys are great!
Derek Brown
Be prepared for a fantastic day and dont forget to take some anti sickness pills beforehand if youre that way inclined. A great days fishing.
Simon Fretwell
Make sure you can handle the sea! It gets a bit choppy when you are far out but the fishing is great out there.
Brady Fouchie
June isnโt the prime fishing season in Barbados. Fishing can be slow and difficult. Crew did there best to put us on fish.
Zak Fritz
Hard to say much about the fishing as fishing has its moment where it does just switch off and today was one of them days
