If you book a morning trip in Sterling, the mornings can be really chilly on the river - even at the end of July (~48 F). Layer up; it probably only warmed up to the mid-50's F by 11. Keep in mind you'll be wading in cold water and there's gonna be some serious wind chill on the boat ride up the Kenai!

Don’t book to early in July and book with an experienced, local guide from the area!!!

Dress for the weather, and bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a wet weather top just in case.

This is not for little kids as you do stand in the river and there is a current but teenage would be fine.

Using a guide was SO worth it. We learned techniques that, had we fished on our own, we would not have known. We're pretty sure we would not have been so successful without our guide.

This is our third summer fishing in soldatna, every year is a wonderful experience.
