Redfish,Grunts and mangrove snapper
August 16, 2024
The redfish bite is improving every day since Hurricane Debbie has passed the water clarity is also improving. The made headsprings still remain dark from the enormous amount of rain we received. Scalloping is very slow , the limited stock that we had has been depleted . As a member of the Homosassa guides association we have had many meeting regarding the depleting numbers in the last few years. With help from fwc and uf researchers we are hoping to see some changes made for next season . Ok enough on that. We are still catching alot of grunts and mangrove snapper providing great opportunities for even a novice angler to catch there dinner. Our fall schedule will start filling fast so to get the best dates book soon . Weekdays are typically better to book your trip they are generally a better time to experience our nature coast with alot less going on than the weekends. Let's go catching Capt David

Redfish bite is at its best
September 12, 2023
Now is the time to catch your your redfish the bite is great . Redfish are some of the best fighting fish out there pound for pound. The storm has past for a few weeks now and there is still alot of debris floating around out ther so be sure to book a good local guide that understands what to look for in the water and safely navigate it.This is also the time of year were our seatrout will begin to return and the bite will get better as the water cools down . Right now we are catching nice redfish and there are still plenty of large mangrove snapper and grunts near shore ( BTW the best eating fish out there). I will look forward to writing my next report as we work into my favorite fishing season oct and november . be sure to book early these dates will fill fast . Capt David Maki

January fishing has its ups and downs
January 14, 2023
January is always a challenging month. This year we have had a few extreme cold fronts so far and the water temps have ranged as much as 15 + degrees with this being said fishing is great when the waters warm more than to more than 60 degrees. We often will find a nice trout bite and some quality redfish . Whoever ehen it drops the bite will be slow. January is the month when the sheepshead will be spawning on or near shore rocks so the bite can be quite good if the wind is not blowing and get to them . I personally will be looking forward to the late February into march fishing when the water will warm and our big trout will move out to the shallow bottom rocky area's, these will be the larger trout and we have alot of fun twitching bait across 1 foot of water and watching the explosion as they hit and from there its game on! March books very fast so book your trips as soon as you can . Lets go catching. Capt David

Fall fishing is at its best !
November 30, 2022
The water has cooled of here in Homosassa. This triggers the fish to feed before the cold sets in . Most of our day to day fishing now is at the mouths of the rivers so in turn it makes for a lot more fishing and less travel time. We are also able to specifically target grouper on the near shore rocks with sometimes a surprise bull redfish. Now is a great time to book your trip for a memorable day here in Homosassa

The fall bite is on !
September 11, 2022
The fall fishing bite has started a pinch early . We are starting to find some decent trout on the outgoing tide with a little bit of wind to break up the top of the water. The redfish bite has also been really good at the mid to upper part of the incoming tide . Snook season is now open and I was very fortunate to get my slot fish on opening day. Our water has cooled faster than normal we are averaging about 82 degrees at surface level with cooler water beneath. Now is definitely a great time to book a trip.
