Lingcod fishing has been decent this year. Some days they are biting other days we have to work hard for the fish. There is a one fish per day per angler limit on these sea dragons. Lingcod are a slot limit fish. Meaning retention of fish is bracketed between 26" and 36". Outside of this slot the fish must be released for the future. Its a good rule for Puget Sound as the population of western washing has increased dramatically the past 20 years. If you head out to the coast of Washingtion to Westport the biomass of bottom fish is orders of magnitude higher than Puget Sound. We are looking forward to the Resident Coho Salmon opener June 1st

Coho Salmon fishing has been great most days. We've had some really hot fishing the past week. It will slow down a bit as these fish start to think about the spawn but I expect good fishing through the first few weeks of October.

The puget sound hatchery chinook season ends on the 31st. The season started off slow and ended strong with the chinook coming a few weeks late this year. Looking forward to an excellent coho fishery in September and October!

Hatchery chinook is still going strong. Hopefully the bite remains strong the next few weeks. I think they were a bit late this year so hopefully that mean some good fishing in the next few weeks. We are starting to see some ocean coho in the net. Its early for coho as they normally get going strong in september. This is not a pink year so if you went last year for pinks they are not coming until next year!

Hatchery Chinook started off this year a little slow. In recent days the fishing has really picked up. Fish are averaging around 10-11 pounds which is smaller than normal but we have started to see some larger chinook. Fishing should remain decent for chinooks through august and then we change gears and focus on Coho salmon.

The resident coho salmon fishery has opened! The weather was cold and windy but the fishing was ok. Recently the weather has improved and so has the fishing! These smaller salmon are feisty and perfect size for the grill.
