Sorry, haven't posted in a while. Just finished 6 straight days of great December fishing. The weather threw everything at us this week. 80 deg one day, 40 the next, 20 deg water temp swings and high winds, topical South Louisiana winter. Lol. We adjusted our strategy and was successful every day. That why I love winter fishing, the fish are hiding in the marsh and we can catch in almost any weather condition. Short boat rides and all protected waters. We have no off time of year down here, only limit is the few days of nasty weather that I don't want to be out in.

Seems that we skipped right through spring and jumped to summer time trout patterns. Experiencing unbelievable trout catches the past 4 days along with all the sheepshead and redfish we want! Larger than normal trout for this topi me of year in big numbers? 150 trout yesterday by 10 am! Now is the time to book your trip, the calendar is Dillinger fast!

The trout are starting the Spring time migration towards the Gulf meaning they are leaving the deep marsh and right now we are catching under birds in the lakes and bays. This makes for easy pickings, short boat ride and fishing in protected waters, actually the best time for kids! Weather is mild with maybe a chilly short ride in the mornings but warming to perfect temps after daylight. It is normal to hook in to a couple of Bull Reds each day while Trout fishing without even going after Reds. The Trout will continue to move towards the close in platforms reefs and barrier islands of the gulf and we will continue to follow along and catch. In just a few weeks we will be running straight out to the beautiful islands along the coast for big trout and reds. Besides the fast and furious fishing action it a beautiful trip with lots to see. I just finished 3 fun and interesting days of catching with Dave and Ron. These guys know what they are doing and brought their own tackle, it was very interesting watching them catch on lures we never use here. Tuesday... After a 15 hour drive to get here Minday and some rest at the Reel Inn they were at the dock early and ready. Right behind a cold front and 15 deg water temp drop we still caught trout. Had to work for them but together enough for a fish fry Tuesday night with some left to bring home. Wednesday.. Started out with calm conditions ans birds starting to work. We got a good start and when the wind turned on we jumped in the marsh and continued to catch. Ended up with 35 trout with and some reds. Thursday... Wind blew all night but calmed down at day break, calm before the storm! Lol. We had to hunt for them but, at the third stop we found hundred trout. It took about 30 minutes to put 35 trout on ice before running from the storms. 3 different weather patterns in 3 days but, we made it happen! CATCHDAT! Get YOUR trip booked! Capt Elton Rodrigue

We are in South Louisiana, we do not have an off season! Right now we are seeing what we normally see in October and early November. The inshore lakes are full of trout with warm water temps the trout are late to transition to the marsh winter holes so with that said fishing should be great through the rest of December and strong in Jan & Feb! Great time of the year to fish, trout are close, short protected boat rides, no open water. We might have a chilly short ride at daybreak but, when the sun comes up its nice day, no heat stroke! Lol So come on down and enjoy some good fishing! Still have a few open days during the holidays while kids are out of school, take them fishing! Or get out of the woods and fish while otheers are hunting! When the hunting seasons end they will all be fishing. Capt Elton Rodrigue

So proud of my crew today for not giving up! Pulled away from the Reel Inn this morning with Brad Denson and his buddies Jeff and Peter on board with winds already blowing 15-20 mph knowing it would be tough. I realized at the first stop I needed to throw my plan out and start over. We tried hiding from the wind but, with the warmer water tempts the trout backed out of the marsh se we had to work the lake in the wind. Amazingly we found birds diving in the white capd but not many keeper trout under the birds. Kept fighting the wind and moving till we found bigger trout and fished hard and ended up with a good catch in ant condition much less windy conditions! This is the first time I ever seen the bite get better as the conditions got worst? With 50 trout, 2 reds and a drum in the K2 we had enough and headed in. Matrix Shrimp Creole under the new Matrux cork did it all today. Can't thank my crew enough today for fishing as hard as they did! Capt Elton Rodrigue
