Took off 5am Sunday on an small, open party trip on a hunch tuna were at Catalina backside. We took the long way out to the island checking usaul tuna areas on the way with no signs. Bummer! We set up in the morning on 3 decent spots for yellowtail. Hooked 5 and only landed one! Watch a sea lion take one 20ft under the boat. Nothing we could do. Still a great time. Wind started to kick up around 10:30. Moved to find fish still biting in the changing conditions. We tried a move the front side, but the sea lions problem multiplied around the boat. Trolling was the best choice which got us plenty of bonito in the weekend boat traffic. Rough trip home on a day with a great morning bite.

We had an awsome day with calm seas and little swell. Fished the East End of Catalina on both the backside and a portion of the front. Looked up the back most of the morning with little sucess. The afternoon bite turned on, so we stay a little overtime. The yellowtail hooked were huge. Landed only one over 30 lbs, closer to 40. A record fish for Adam!! A lot od 3-5 lb bonito to snag with barracuda in the mix. We did get sheephead and calico as usual. Great day with awesome people.
