Destin Fishing Report – August 2025 August continues to deliver incredible opportunities in the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village,” and this year is no exception. With our federal permits, we're able to venture well beyond nine miles offshore, unlocking access to prime fishing grounds—not just in state waters. Red snapper season remains open for us, extending through mid-September thanks to our federal charter capabilities. That means clients can still catch and keep red snapper into early fall—don’t let the season slip by! In addition, vermillion snapper are actively biting now, offering excellent bottom-fishing action just offshore. Our offshore grounds are also delivering solid bites from scamp and red grouper, popular for their fight and table quality. And for those chasing surface action, the Mahi-Mahi bite has been strong, with plenty of vibrant, sun-soaked fish coming aboard.

The gulf waters are heating up and that means the fishing does too. The Spanish Mackerel bite has been AWESOME and the kings are starting to show up too! Bottom fishing has been on fire with the vermillion snapper (aka mingos or beeliners), red and white porgys, etc., chewing up bait. We have been catching several trigger fish although many are undersized. The smaller ones still put up a mean fight but it takes about 15 smalls to catch a keeper. As for cobia, the migration has started! They have been on a downward spiral the last ten years are so in the area but they are starting to come back and that is a good sign!
