Muttons and mangs!
March 7, 2024
Great late 3 hour trip this afternoon. We had some good patch reef action getting some decent mangrove snappers. We were also rewarded with a keeper mutton snapper which is one of my favorite eating fish! Ghe weather has been favorable for early march, nice warm and calm! Book a trip today and take advantage! Tarpon are starting to chew as well but theres always time for some table fare as well.

Great patch reef action late February
February 22, 2024
Got out to the patches today. Very nice weather since the last front came through jts stayed chilly but the winds have been moderate and out of the north. So just perfect for getting out front. The mackerels were biting today, lots of ceros which were welcome for table fare. We also had a mix of snappers, yellow jacks, muttons, and more. Bait has been around some days more of a grind than others, but as we get more into spring itll get more helpful to have. Im hoping we will start getting into tarpon soon its still just a tad chilly for consistent fishing for them but maybe next week. It should be good later in the season though as the tarpon have somewhat been held off by the cold.

Sharks and goliaths!
February 18, 2024
Did some big critter fishing today. We had good shark action with some large blacktips as well as nurse sharks to pull on. We hooked into several goliath grouper at the bridge which provided some good pulls! They are master at breaking you off in structure but we were able to pull a few out. Tarpon didnt bite but hopefully when it warms up a little more theyll start chewing more reliably.

Patch reefs have been providing good var
February 16, 2024
Weve been getting out on the islamorada patch reefs lately. Lots of action out there and you never know what you might get. Tablefare is a good bet but you can also enjoy battling grouper, look down, mackerel, jacks, permit, and more. With the late cold winter weve been having its been a good bet and when the winds are north its pleasent out there. Its really starting to get busy now for the next few months. Get your trips planned soon. Next week looks to stay on the chilly side do well likely be doing more of this, then maybe by end of February itll warm up enough for the big tarpon!

Monster Permit!
January 28, 2024
Had a full day in the backcountry. Slicked out gorgeous weather here before the next cold front comes in. We were blessed and got this monster Permit! Ate a nice crab and put on a tremendous fight! These are probably the hardest fish to catch in the backcountry. But so much fun and they can turn on a dime in a fight like no other.

January winter time fishing Islamorada
January 14, 2024
January is rollin' by and we've been getting out a bit catching some fish! It's not been super busy which often is the case... we always have a busy christmas week then sometimes a few days after New Years, and then season really starts rocking again in mid February. But i've been getting out a few days a week and been having some fun. I had my buddy Kyle out the other day. Weather was a little iffy we've had some rain in between the cold fronts which is unusual for January but nothing surprises you with the weather these days. Though not enough to keep us from having a good time most days. The reef fishing was really good lots of snappers including keeper mutton snapper which is my favorite to eat! We had some cero mackerels mixed in on the patch reefs which are always a winter time favorite on the atlantic side. Got a nice goliath under one of the bridges which was fun, been catching those fairly consistently for anyone who wants to try there hand at it. The mangrove snappers were nice and large too for us we had plenty for dinner. And can't forget about the nice blacktip shark for something bigger to pull on to! Tarpon fishing has been a little slower but that is to be expected in January, but the sharks are a good alternative for something large. You can expect tarpon fishing to get better in February but anytime it gets warmer in the 80s they'll start biting more. Hope to get you out there soon give me a shout and let's go fishing!
