With the Striper season now in full swing, we are seeing very steady fishing and lots of fish to take home! Todays afternoon crew absolutely crushed it, boating 4 keepers in the first half hour, and finding the last one shortly after. Throwing back keepers became the norm as fish continuted to come over the rail. Another day of stiff wind lead to the common question, “is it worth it?”. Come to find out, it was very much worth it. After a 25 minute ride through less than ideal conditions, we set up and quickly began marking fish. We fired the rods out and instantly started taking the extra large variety of Striped Bass 2 at a time. The constant action remained this way, with the common fish being between 36 and 38 inches, and the larger size being upwards of 45 and 46 inches, tipping the scale at 35-40lbs. Even the kids got in on the action, catching multiple 40+ inch fish on their own! Another legendary day in the books with many stories to bring home, as well as dinner after finding a few smaller fish. The big ones won’t be here forever! With yet another crew opting to hunt bigger game, we set out on the hunt for the larger variety of striped bass. We set out making a bit of a further run than usual, but it paid off bigtime. Within 30 minutes of setting up, we had a school of massive Striped Bass dialed in to the tee. The next three and a half hours were spent catching slob sized Stripers, landing 8 fish over 35 inches and 20lbs, 4 fish in the 40 inch range weighing roughly 25-30lbs, and 3 fish over 45 inches in the mid 30lb range. While these fish had to go back according to the slot size, we manged to grab a few fish for dinner before heading back to the dock. Tough conditions today led to a chat before leaving dock, wondering if we could even make it out, but thank god we did. Deciding to stick inshore to avoid the weather and go big game hunting paid off big time. After taking a some time to find the fish, the striper slayers went to work, grabbing their limit of bass for the dinner table as well as a few undersized fish. A quick afternoon trip saw limits of Striped Bass for a great Fathers day! Starting the trip by quickly loading up on Mackerel for bait, we moved offshore and found tbe bass right away. A quick morning trip with the girls turned into a flounder beat-down, even with a bit of a later start! Steady action through the late morning and early afternoon continued as we picked away at the flatties. Filling the bucket became no issues as the girls landed fish, one after another. Eventually growing tired of flounder fishing, we made a last second audible to go try for a Striped Bass. After spending a whole 15 minutes looking for bait, we had what we needed to go on the hunt. Again, after a short time looking around, we managed to grab a lone keeper to add to the assortment of fillets. With that, we booked it home just in time to send them off to work for the night.
