The weather has been cold and the winds have been high making fishing hard. The Coho Salmon. Are still south of us and we are waiting for the water to warm up . The water temperature is still at 40 so we might have another week to wait. The weather will hit 70 thIs week so we are hoping for a boost in water temp. Winds remain strong but we added some protection to the boat as you can see from the pic . We had to cancel a few trips because we only will he out if we know you will catch fish. Fish on !!!

With a mild winter and the ice almost gone Milwaukee Offshore Fishing Charters are gearing up for a great season. We will be starting off with the Coho Salmon run. On the 13th we had a father son from the Netherlands book us through Fishing Booker. The weather was cloudy and the wind was 10mph out of the west. We in no time caught a nice 15lb lake trout. The night bite has been better for big fish and we were getting into the right spot. We practiced the fish dance and soon we were rewarded with a 24.7lb king Salmon. The Offshore414 finished the trip with some really nice fish. The next trip in the morning on the 14th was a little slower but we again caught some nice 15lb to 18lb fish that helped fill the cooler. The Trip on the Aug 19th was a great trip. We had three young boys Hunter, Sam and Aaron for a birthday trip. They had a blast and we caught our limit of nice Salmon and trout. We also had one nice rainbow trout. They left with some great memories. The trip on Aug 20th needed to be rebooked until that evening because of wind. The crew again found a nice pocket of fish that were staging near shore. The Offshore414 again caught 2 really nice big fish and one passenger caught the smallest fish of the year and made the website. We all laughed and had a great time. The Trips from Aug 9th thru Aug 12th were up and down again. We had some calm seas early on the 9th that helped us hook up some nice King Salmon again. The afternoon of the 9th started off great with small chop on the water. We decided to fish with the waves and had a few bites but after 2hrs the wind started to blow harder. We pulled lines before it was to rough but the seas built to 3 footers. This is still safe but not ideal so the customer decided to call it a day. The next trip we had a group from Kansas one member was a former charter captain out of Alaska that in the end help out. The trip on the 11th started off slow but ended in a tornado of action. Was it the fish dance again that helped? We had two times 4 fish on at once and fish in the net that we needed out to net another fish. In the end we caught our limit of 15 fish and some big King Salmon. The Sun dropped the wind again picked up and we had a fun ride in. The morning of the 12th again brought us big waves. We offered the customers an option to rebook but they wanted to brave it. Our boat "The Offshore414" has what it take handle big water but one customers stomach said no. In the end while we decided to call uncle. We pulled lines but before we could get all our lines out we caught some nice fish. One fish was a world class King weighing well over 20lbs. The Offshore414 fished hard Aug 4th 5th and 6th and had some ups and downs. The last few weeks we have had some strong east winds and big waves. The team again finished in the money last week in our tournament. The evening trip on the 4th was not good only catching a few fish followed up with big waves on the morning trip of the 5th with 6 foot rollers. We never got a bite. We moved three time and covers 30 miles of water and got skunked . That has never happened in 13 years. After that trip on the 5th the crew was thinking we forgot how to fish or the other charter captains were mad at us for catching so many fish this year that they sprayed our lures with fish repellent. The afternoon trip on the 5th we were scared to go out but the fish dance brought some hope and we caught some nice fish and missed a big one. Thank god that day was over. The morning of the 6th brought great calm weather with cloud cover that is ideal for fishing. The crew was Captain Nick and Mark and one adult and three youths. El, Silas and Bennett the youngest being 7 years olds. The days started off good catching a few trout and rainbows. We moved spots looking for colder water and put out our spread again. After 5 min we had a "fish On " that took all the boys help. They each took turns realIng and holding the rod. While we were fighting this fish we had another and another fish on. Three fish on at one time and one 20lb king salmon trying to knock off the big one. After 1hr and tired fisherman we saw "The King". This fish came in last and tipped the scales at a whopping 27.4 pounds . Yes we do know how to fish. The Offshore414 is back. Book today for your fish of a lifetime.

The next few weeks Milwaukee has had some high north east winds that blew in some really warm water. The Offshore414 fished in two tournaments and even with this unusual warm water we finish very well. The offshore414 finished in the top five in the pro division with the help of our clients. This was a week long contest. We caught 5 fish over 20lbs and missed a 25lb king salmon that we had in the net. We are getting out again and hoping for some cooler water to blow in.
