So far a mild winter has kept the fish close by, if not accessible. Long range forecast has mild temperatures continuing. If this holds waters will warm quickly and we could be catching by March. Now is the time to book your preferred dates: flounder, April & May. Sharks, June, July & August. Striped bass and trout, September & October. Week days better than weekends, mornings better than afternoons.

Pictured is probably the last shark of 2019. October opened with temps in the 80's and 90's with summertime conditions and multiple shark bites. However, the signs of fall were present with small stripers and speckled trout eagerly attacking jigs. The first serious cool front arrives tonight with big wind and a.m. temps in the 40's. Took a trip to the dark side this rainy morning armed with a fly rod. Caught fish until my stripping hand bled. Many rockfish (striped bass) and one 16 inch speckled trout. Ran two trips yesterday. Finfish were slow but sharks still making a strong showing. Still fairly busy but some openings available if you'd like to get out. Aloha

The fish of summer are at their peak right now. Sharking is steady, blues and mackerel slashing bait pods, and shoals of croakers are in the channels. Now is the time to start thinking about fall sportsfishing. These trips are geared for 1-2 people and require some ability at cast and retrieve.. Species targeted are striped bass, trout, flounder and redfish. Season will start September 15 and go to end of November (weather permitting) Aloha, Capt. Tim

The sharking has been very good this week, both in size and numbers, with 7 sharks yesterday alone! This should be the peak of season for the next 3 weeks, followed by a gradual slowing as we move towards fall sports fish. As I emphasize every year, C.B.A. strongly encourages catch and release of all sharks. Take great pictures, make exciting video, then go celebrate over a pizza while these extraordinary creatures live to fight another day! Aloha

The weather and water continue to improve, allowing us to get out to nearshore wrecks and color edges to target a variety of species. Sharks are getting active as we enter peak season. Watch for cobia and redfish to start appearing. Aloha
