Stepped out of the comfort zone and into the icebox with a trip to the shores of Lake Erie in pursuit of Steelhead. Saw good numbers but tough bite with low, clear runs between the ice. Was a treat to be guided by my son, who has paid his dues and earned the reward. The future of angling is bright! Aloha

Slate gray cold short days. Stripers and flounder gone offshore 'till March. Oh, what to do? How about Lake Erie steelhead. Game on this weekend off to the great white north to try polar bonefish. Despite Dicey weather the weekend turned out fishey. Haley and Chris lit 'em up with flyrods. Their success highlights the importance of good preparation in advance. They were rigged and ready. Tyler and Jug followed up with a good mix of flounder, trout, and rock with some exciting near misses. As the weather cools the rock/striper fishing should continue to improve. Aloha

With a week left before October, conditions are setting up for fantastic fall fishing. 6 charters in three days yielded dozens of trout, flounder, and rockfish (striped bass) and the first back country redfish of the season. Fall fishing is upon us. Sharks are winding down, striped bass, trout and puppy drum are starting to appear. An important factor to consider this time of year is weather. Cool and blustery is the norm. Appropriate clothing can help keep anglers comfortable when conditions change.
