Fresh Captain Tim's Chincoteague Bay Adventures Fishing Reports
tough days happen...
July 27, 2017
I promised myself I would report the slow trips along with the good. Logan, Dante, and Nick tried hard for that bucket list shark. flounder go deep!
July 20, 2017
Water heating up during dog days is driving fish deep looking for cooler temps. Flounder found today in 12-20 feet being refreshed with cool ocean water on incoming tide. Bouncing gulps gets attention. Sharks remain steady, following schools of whiting and menhaden around the inlets. On the lookout for croaker, cobia, and tarpon (80 degree water).

Slick calm conditions and good southbound current made for a perfect drift outside the inlet. First fish on 10 minutes from the dock and the action was nonstop for four hours. Fifteen sharks in the boat, from 8 lb. Hammerhead to a 40 lb Dusky. Sharpnosed sharks so numerous we had to move to find other species.

Summer Shark fishing heating up!

Calm conditions and crystal clear water one mile offshore provided the ingredients for an active shark bite. Largest was a 50 lb. Dusky caught by kyle. 2 snapping Sharpnosed Sharks and a juvenile Hammerhead rounded out the morning. A steady stream of Whiting early provided fresh live baits and some nice fillets for dinner. All sharks released unharmed.
