Fresh White Bear Lake Fishing Reports

This hot weather moving in has the muskies heating up as well. Another morning trip with some action. A short 3 hour trip got 2 muskies up and moving. One followed super hot behind the bait and the other wanted to eat so bad that it literally chased the bait out of the water to eat. Unfortunately the hooks didn't find their mark, but it gave my client a big surprise when that fish showed up!

A quick 3 hour trip this morning showed a few active fish! 4 muskies decided to show themselves while chasing bucktails. The water is warming up, a significant warm up compared to last week. We're sitting at 70 degrees which should make for an improvement in fish activity after all the rain and cold fronts we've had the last 10 days. Book your musky trip!

Musky season is underway and it feels great to be back chasing these amazing fish! During the first 9 days of the season we've faced a lot of weather changes, from hot and sunny to cold and rainy, and everything in between. We have found fish using the shallow cabbage beds as well as fish coming from the deeper weed edges. The last couple of days we've found that blades over shallow cover has been the most productive. Summer bass fishing is soon to be in full swing! Lots of bass already being caught, and some big ones too! July is my favorite time to chase big largemouth! There are shallow fish and deep fish, offering different fishing techniques, depending on how you want to fish. Everything from grass jigs in the jungle to ned rigs on deeper edges to topwater frogs in the lily pads. One of the coolest bites you'll ever find is up in the lily pads, by far one of the most intense bites you can experience while bass fishing! Muskie opener is only a couple weeks away, and I couldn't be more excited! The weather this spring is shaping up to be an incredible start to the muskie season. A nice stretch of weather before opener will have weed growth looking really good. I expect the 35-42 inch males will be using the weeds and the big females will be in open water! One thing I love about early season musky fishing is that the fish can be anywhere from the shallow weedy flats, out into open water basins, and everywhere in between. Walleyes and bass are active on the deep weeds. We're getting them with a very simple tactic, the Ned rig! Probably one of the easiest ways to catch fish! Musky opener is approaching quickly and things are looking great for the opener. I still have a few dates availabe in June!
