Check weather conditions and try to get a day with low wind. Our captain was awesome but the wind wouldn't let us go out very far. Even the bigger boats around us were turning back.

Take sunscreen and a long sleeved shirt. Be prepared for a rough ride if you are in a smaller boat. Ours was probably about 25 feet. Was not expecting it to be so rough. Well worth it though.

Bring plenty of water and stay hydrated and don't forget the sunscreen. Weather in the summer can be unpredictable so dress accordingly.

The captain makes a big difference, and late afternoon was the best in the first week of April.

Be prepared for inshore fishing if the water is too rough in the gulf. Protect yourself from the sun. Get ready to catch some fish!

Just remember the Capt is trying his hardest to help you catch fish and have a good time, remember it’s called fishing not catching.

If you can, charter a boat and captain: it is intense excitement and you can catch many fish in a compact period of time.
