BiG Redfish

Big reds are showing out right now and making their presence known in a big way. Overslot fish are stacked up in deeper holes and along channel edges, especially around moving water. Live mullet and cut bait have been getting crushed, with some fish pushing well into the upper 30–40 inch range. Early mornings and tide changes have been the ticket, with schools rolling through and lighting up rods quick. If you’re around structure—bridges, docks, or drop-offs—hang on, because when they eat, they’re not playing around. Redfish bite has been solid this week with fish cruising the flats and staging around oyster bars. Live bait and cut mullet have been getting it done, with a few oversized bulls mixed in. Speckled sea trout action is heating up as well, especially early morning on the moving tide. Throwing soft plastics and live shrimp under a popping cork has been producing steady bites.
