18.5 lb Salmon Trolled Amid Traffic

Water temps are still in the 67° range. We spent the day looking for pods of Salmon pushing up the river. Normally the incoming tide is our favorite time to catch them. Today at the very end of the incoming, we found the best school of the day. We dropped on them and within 15 minutes, we landed 2 of these 17 pound Salmon. They are coming in better and better every week with the dropping water temps. We will be fishing on the river for King Salmon until December 16th when the season closes.

Water temps on the Sacramento River near Rio Vista have fallen to just under 69°. With the recent full moon and water temps coming down, the fish will continue to move in. We are seeing allot of fish on sonar and getting allot of shaker bites on Stripers. Salmon should improve with these changing conditions and cooler water. We are booked up for most of September, but have plenty of open days still going into October. Today's trip was more shaker Striper and no Salmon strikes in the few hours we had to fish.

This weekend was windy on Saturday, a little less on Sunday. Lots of weeds and grass in the water. We trolled for salmon both mornings and waited for the incoming tide in the afternoon. Only heard of a couple of salmon caught by a couple of different boats this weekend. Water temps were between 71-72° on the Sacramento River near Rio Vista. We have been marking allot of fish on our sonar in the area as well. Saturday afternoon we decided to find some cleaner water and catch some shaker Stripers up to 16 inches for a bit. Water temps and temps in general are cooling down this coming week. We will be back out in a few days checking on conditions again and will continue to report our findings.
