False Reports of Freshwater in the New O

Trip Summary

Mr. Frank had messaged me last week asking how I was catching redfish with freshwater still in the area. He had intended to book with another service but noticed recent reviews of the charter service mentioning tough days due to freshwater. I happily explained that the water is very salty now and the freshwater has been gone for well over a month. So, I have no explanation for why that would be an excuse for a tough day. Juvenile Redfish, (1" - 27") require zero salt water. Redfish are just fine in 100% freshwater. We have seen some spectacular fishing this year! The redfish population has never been healthier. Pictures in my reviews, reports, and listing reflect how great the fishing has been. To prove that the salinity levels are up, I satisfied Frank's request for speckled trout on September 23rd by fishing a local bay, with the Marina still in sight. After netting 30 speckled trout, we fished a different shoreline in the same bay, catching a 2 person limit of redfish. Another successful full day trip. Mr Frank had such a great time, he booked a second trip for December.
