Trip Summary

The Charter Captains at Hook Dat Fishing Charters have been finding good schools of speckled trout this week hitting the outer marshes and open bays near pilings, shallow water reefs and oil rigs. We had several days of nice calm weather and made some runs out to the Chandeleur Islands and got into some big trout. Also finding success inside the marshes for some nice slot limit redfish. We had a few days of catching some nice 27" - 35" Bull Reds too. Good week of fishing with some nice limits of speckled trout, redfish, and black drum. Finding clean water this week was the key to success on finding the big trout. For trout we had better luck on live bait and matrix shad. Redfish were hitting both live and dead bait along with a vudu shrimp bouncing off the bottom along oyster reefs.
