Trip Summary
We had a wonderful group today a gentleman and his two boys and we're hoping to show them the fish of their lifetime. It was a 6-hour trip all the conditions were perfect and absolutely gorgeous day. We started out with going beyond where a 4-Hour boats goes because the gentleman had purchased a 6-hour trip so we went 10 miles down the beach and hope to find the Cobia all to ourself. We're starting out trying to catch Spanish mackerel we trolled for 45 minutes and not seeing any type of sea life. So we picked up our stuff and we ran down another 5 miles and got out on a shoal and put out our King Michael gear and hope to find Spanish or king mackerel while searching for a Cobia. After an hour and a half of trolling with no bites after consulting the group and making a group decision we then ran out further off the beach looking to find the grass line to maybe find something under that. After searching we did find one and the only thing that the group got to see was about a 450 lb leather neck sea turtle. Nearing the end of the party starting to worry that we would be skunked we ran back to the bar where it all started from and trolled behind that and then caught three Spanish mackerel. Not the day that anybody hoped for but it never is when such a beautiful day and a nice long trip turns into just three fish. But running a total of at least 25 miles searching and five or six different areas we tried to give them the fishing trip of a lifetime but sometimes it don't work unfortunately the group said that they understood and seem to have a good time. Still it makes the captain and feel bad from the crew of the no sweat tight lines and keep them smiles on
