Trip Summary

Today was a gorgeous day on Lake Chickamauga. The water was calm but roiled from all the recent rains. Nonetheless, spider-rigging with live and artificial baits yielded 12 big (12-15 inch) crappie and 6 yellow bass.

Got a few nice 13+ inch Chickamauga crappie and several 10-12 inch fish as well. Water temperature was 86 degrees and most fish were taken at 16-20 feet over 20-28 foot depths. Almost all were taken pulling and pushing Bandit 300 crankbaits. A few other species were taken as well.

The crappie bite on Chickamauga today was strong early, but all but shutdown mid-morning. Marked lots of fish on brushpiles in 13-20 FOW, but even minnows didn't trigger a bite. Very hot and muggy and not a breath of wind. Water temps were 80-82 degrees at the surface.
