Trip Summary

Returning customers Dusty, Paul and Bobby kicked-off the 2023 Lake Erie Walleye season with BlackH2oDog Charters. The day was beautiful, but recent high winds, full moon and stiff East winds made us work for every fish. We ran a mix of Bandits, Rapala Deep Husky Jerks and the new Bill Lewis PWC. Bandits 50 to 65 and DHJ 65 were best, the PWC did not produce. Speed was 1.5 mph early and 1.7 later. Bobby, Paul and Dustin after a quick refresh on how we attached our Off Shore Tackle Company planner boards they ran the back of the boat and were soon setting and netting their Walleye. They left with a cooler full of Walleye after a great day of catching and conversation on the water. #lakeeriewalleye #blackh2odog #LakeErieFishing #teamscoutboats

Ron wanted his son Patrick to have an opportunity for some Lake Erie Walleye. They headed East from Indiana to join me in Cleveland. We fished North of 72nd street. We had almost non-stop action with Reef Runner Tackle Company 900s behind Off Shore Tackle Company inline planner boards. Bandits did their share of the work as well. All stock colors today with the exception of the BlackH2oDog custom. Dipsey 3 setting with Rapala J7s. Ripplin Redfins 30 back on Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrip 50s. This crew tossed back fish for several hours after our limits and they learned to use Offshore Tackle planner boards. Jeff and Dennis were back again today for another shot at Lake Erie Walleye. With the predicted 15 to 20 mph winds ?? we opted to do a Walleye Perch combo. The perch report is simple nothing going off of the Rattles. So we put the casting harnesses to work in 6 to 20 fow. For a strong 1 plus hours it was non-stop Catfish 3 to 6 pounds. Then the Walleye heated up and they picked away until the had 2 - 2 day limits of Walleye heading back to Iowa. We were within site of the Ship the entire day. Dennis and brother in law Jeff are visiting from Iowa to catch Lake Erie for Walleye because they needed it off their bucket list. We headed East a little more than 25 miles and set up in 48 fow. We had 2 ? setups, the Dipsey 3 setting with Orange FJ7s 90 back and TruTrip 50s 50 and 60 back with butterfly blade harness. FJ7 took a Fish Ohio and a fry from this year. Close second was Bandit with Off Shore Tackle Company 2oz Guppy weight 105 back behind OR-12 inline planner board. We left at 7am and were done at 11, let these guys practice with the Offshore gear a little more after we all reeled our share.
