Trip Summary

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, what a great week of deep sea fishing right in Fort Lauderdale that we have had, some of the best weather we have seen in a long time and not to mention the fish are biting! To start the report off we will stay on the inshore because thats where most of the action has been, right on the reef there has been solid kingfish action with some bonitos mixed in just about daily, the only thing that has been a pain as of late is the seaweed, some days the seaweed is so bad its been very difficult to fish and other days there has been none. Trolling has been a great way to target the kingfish as well as the bonitos but live bait has been working very well right now in order to get some of the larger kings. There has also been some very very large blackfin tuna on the edge of the reef that we have been catching while slow trolling live baits, some of the tunas have been as big as 30lbs. This week we had some great weather and favorable conditions for bottom fishing we have been anchoring up on the deeper side of the reef catching some quality yellowtail snappers. Light tackle and small baits has been the best combo, while on the anchor we also have been putting out some live baits on the surface and there has been quite a bit of sailfish around right now as well, and the occasional mahi mahi in on the reefs chasing live baits. Moving a little off the reef to the deeper water there has been quite a bit of shark activity. Big game sharks are still around and plentiful right now, hammerhead, sandbar, bull sharks, and tiger sharks just to name a few. All sharks are catch and release only but if your looking for a fight they will give it to you. On the offshore side of things mahi is the hot topic that seems to always be coming up but unfortunately it is to early to go out there and search for the fish so nice they named it twice I would imagine that they will start to pick up as we reach the summer months like June and July so that is something to look forward to in future reports. All in all the fishing as of late has been great right here in Fort Lauderdale, so many options of different things to fish for. This week be sure to check out some of the great photos we have of some recent catches caught aboard our deep sea fishing trips, and also remember to give us a follow on social media platforms for daily fishing content like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing. Very busy week coming up but we do still have some availability if your coming to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water... more later... Great Fall Fishing In Fort Lauderdale
Great Fall Fishing In Fort Lauderdale
November 14, 2025
Hello everyone Capt Vinnie here, the first cold front is officially in the books here in Fort Lauderdale. What is cold for us may not be cold for you but its a brisk 60 degrees here. Anyways cold fronts tend to bring fish with them and the first one being in the books this week has brought some nice fish with it. For the report this week we will start way offshore with a fish that we typically don't talk much about and that's the swordfish. As of late there has been a great swordfish bite going on, we recently went out to the shelf and caught 3 out of 4 swordfish in only a few hours. This doesn't happen all the time but when the conditions line up it can be an epic day out there. One key thing to note is that the swordfish we caught were full of squid and that means there is plenty of bait and as long as the bait stays the fish will be close by. Moving inshore a little bit there has been some really nice mahi mahi still around, finding weed lines and birds are going to be the best places to look. Trolling down the weed lines with surface baits has been the best way to get some action, average size on the mahis has been around 10lbs with some bigger fish around. The mahi fishery is on the ending side meaning soon they will be gone but we still have till the end of November to catch them. Heading on the reef there has been a good bite of sailfish going on right now which is to be expected given we just had a cold front. Live baiting has been a good choice if you are just looking to target a sailfish but if your looking for other species as well trolling is going to be the next best option. There has been a few wahoo as well in the mix, we just recently had a bunch of small bonito arrive in our area and that is a snack for a wahoo. Finding the bait is always key when looking for predatory fish. Last but not least the afternoons have been producing some blackfin tuna, although they haven't been the biggest in size the bite has been consistent, i believe we will start to see a better bite of tuna as we get closer to winter time. This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale and remember to give us a like on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for the rest of November we do have a good amount of availability for deep sea fishing, so if your coming down for vacation or even for the holiday i recommend you look us up because even though its chilly outside fishing is starting to heat up...more later Capt. Great Start To November Deep Sea Fishing
Great Start To November Deep Sea Fishing
November 6, 2025
Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here. The fishing this week has been just excellent right now in Fort Lauderdale, being that we just had our first real cold front although what is cold here in Florida may not be cold for the rest of the world. Anyways this week i would say we are right in tune with our fall fishing patterns and the catches we have been having prove that to be true. For the report this week, inshore is where majority of the fish have been biting right now trolling has been the most productive thing that we can do. Lots of king mackeral are biting right now just on the outside of the reef and pink has been the go to color. With winter right around the corner a lot of the king mackeral are going to be keyed in on shrimp so it makes sense why pink would be the best color. In shallow there has been a few very nice sized mahi mahi, this time of year is a very cool time to fish because a lot of the mahi come in very close to chase live ballyhoo just on the edge of the reefs, meaning you can catch some of the biggest mahi we get right off the beach. Other then mahi and king mackeral right now the sailfish bite has been super hot. Pretty much every trip we have been able to get at least 1 or even 2 chances to try and catch one. We have been getting majority of our bites trolling with surface baits, purple and blue have been our go to and i think these colors have been so successful lately due to the fact that the sailfish are keyed in on the ballyhoo just like the mahi and these colors match those baitfish perfectly. I would imagine coming up soon live baiting for pelagic fish like sailfish is going to be the ticket but i think in a few more cold fronts that will be the norm, for now we will catch them trolling. This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Upcoming for the rest of the month i would be on the look out for some wahoo action specially with the moon we have as well as a couple really great mahi catches. November is one of the best months for bigger mahi here in south florida so be ready for that. Also very possible to see some blackfin tuna to start showing up as well but that is more of an afternoon bite. Anyways lots to look forward to in the upcoming weeks. If your coming down to south florida and looking to do some deep sea fishing we have plenty of availability for the rest of the month of November so look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water. more later.... Fall Fishing In Fort Lauderdale
Fall Fishing In Fort Lauderdale
October 22, 2025
Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here... Sorry for the delay in reports I happen to take a vacation for a little bit of R and R, but I'm back and I have a great fishing report for you guys this week. For the report this week the hot topic is going to be mahi mahi. I always say that the fall season is always best for mahi specially for size and numbers. We have been catching alot of mahi in the 10lb average class on up to 20lbs too. This time of year is very special when it comes to fishing for mahi and I say that because the fish seem to be scattered all over, you can catch them as shallow as 40 feet of water and you can also catch them out deep as well, so its not needed to have an all day trip. The mahi that are shallow are all going to be feeding on live ballyhoo. You can catch them trolling with ballyhoo or seawitch and strips combinations but your best bet is going to be to catch live ballyhoo and use them its as good as a guarantee. The fish that you find offshore are going to be either on birds or on weediness specially when we have these Northern winds with south current inshore, there will be an edge somewhere offshore where the south current is going to meet the north current and form that tidal edge. Trolling right down the blue side is going to be the ticket. Â Other then mahi action this week sailfish seem to be very prevalent right now and all sizes at that. Trolling on the reef has been yielding good results anywhere from 100-300 feet seems to be where the best sailfish action has been. Trolling on the reef has been very productive for kingfish too right now, the kingfish haven't been the biggest ones but there have been a good amount around anywhere from 80-140 feet. The water has been super green inshore so bright color lures have been best, bright pink as well as yellows have been my go to. There has been a few wahoo around and we did manage to get a nice one this week in the dirty water (pictured) around 25lbs. This week please be sure to take a look at some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing trips out of Fort Lauderdale and remember to give us a like and follow on facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for the rest of the month of October we have availability so if your coming down to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing we would love to show you a great time on the water. Fishing wise seems that Fall fishing is in full effect and the mahi mahi bite is about as good as it can be right now, I would imagine the sail fishing is just starting to heat up and will only improve more and more, the one species we haven't seen in a while is blackfin tuna but that fishery starts to pick up more as we get closer to our winter season, lots to look forward to stay tuned..more later...
