Weekend recap

Trip Summary

As I take a break from switching the boat over from Lake Michigan to inland here’s the weekend recap. Saturday- the Kenosha Classic which I should rename to my struggle bus tournament. After not being able to pre fish two days prior due to a nautical north wind I went into it pretty blind. Knowing there were kings in Milwaukee I decided to point the @skeeterboats_official north and make a 35mi run. Once we got up to Milwaukee it didn’t take long for the first two cohos to hit the deck then after pulling the hooks on a king with the 300’ copper we rode the struggle bus the rest of the day picking off one here one there. It seemed like we missed the king bite by about 45mins. Overall we finished 8-14. But that’s tournament fishing sometimes when you full send a Hail Mary you’ll connect and sometimes it misses. Congrats to Jim Muller and crew of the Stormtrooper for a massive box of 164lbs! Now after taking a beating what does a stubborn finlander do? Head right out to where the winning box came from the next day. Sunday evening took Tina out and we had a steady flow of bites with two kings, 1 laker and 5 cohos and some chunky ones at that. Flasher flies have definitely overtaken spoons this week and Atommik meat rigs really have been chiming in. The wind is looking good the rest of the week.
