Had a customer out for a deep water rockfish trip with the electric reels. We brought up this Mexican Rockfish and it was a Jurrasic Park monster! When we brought it onboard, I immediately said “I’ve never seen one of these even close to this size”. Normally they are 1/3 this size. Was thankful to have caught this fish but didn’t gice it much thought. Was glad it graced a dinner table! When I reached my slip, I looked up the fish. The world record is 9#. This fish is definitely in that range. Oops!!!
