Trip Summary

Two couples looking for a fun day while on vacation in Oceanside, Ca. We started trolling for a Mako Shark (great eating) for about 1.5 hours with no luck so went in shore to fish for Calico Bass for dinner. In the last 10 mins. of fishing time one of the lady's hook up a Thresher Shark. It was a 9 minute fight because we were fishing with 15 # line. It was lucky is was hooked the corner of the mouth with only a #4 hook. End of the trip they caught and released 14 Bass and went home with the thresher and Calico bass for dinner.

Left the harbor at 7:30 AM , Stopped at Bait Dock for fresh Live Sardines, we already have Squid and Shrimp. Forty five minute run to the Rockcod spot. Within one hour we have limits of Rockcod. WE then start trolling for a Mako Shark, two hours later we caught a Nice Mako Shark. Great eating. We then move on shore for Calico Bass and Sheepshead. We caught all of those also. Great day on the water and lots of fish to eat.

Left the dock at 7:30 AM to pick up live bait. Ran offshore 4 miles and started trolling for a Mako Shark. Two hour later we caught a small 3.5 foot Mako which was released. We then anchored up and started fishing for Bass. We caught and released 95 Calicos,1 sculpin,2 Berries,1 Sandbass and 14 Green Back Machel . They kept 6 Calico Bass for Dinner. A total of 120 fish caught.
