Trip Summary

Visiting from California, Mr. Fischer wanted to do a few hours of fishing offshore before leaving the Dirty South. Well I said, we’ll need to run close to 10 miles out. 2-3 moderate chop, clear skies with only a USCG cutter on the horizon. As soon as we reached 1,100 ft. I notice a very large school of birds circling and diving on what looked like bait. Fields of flying fish, getting totally thrashed up. Upon our approach, I realized it was a massive school of black fin. Fish were breaching the surface with a few jumping as well. The naked ballyhoo we trolled were hit before the drags could even be set. Quickly switching out to Williamson tuna feathers, we run and gunned them for the next few hours before sunset. Ultimately limited out and with only one other boat in contention. All fish were between 10-16 pounds. Weekday fishing always a treat in the City that doesn’t sleep. Go get em’ boys, it’s on.
