Trip Summary

Yesterday we provided a private guide aboard the clients boat and spent the day looking for exotics at Catalina Island. We made our way across the channel around 7pm with a bait tank of sardines and some frozen Squid. We focused on the backside of the east end of the island hoping for some yellowtail, as there have been reports of some caught in recent days. Within the first hour of anchoring on our spot we hooked a short white seabass, and then a legal 29" seabass. The Calico bite was wide open the entire time. We also could see rat yellowtail swimming through our chum line, but we weren't able to get them to bite the hook. Very productive day of fishing. Wind picked up after 1pm and the ride back was a little bumpy.
