We really enjoyed our fishing trip with Captain Rudy! He was very friendly, helpful and made it exactly the experience we were hoping for. After we got aboard the boat we headed out right away and almost immediately had fish on the line as we did some trolling on the way to the other fishing grounds. We continued to catch multiple types of fish and even pulled in a shark to the side of the boat that hit one of our live bait. At the end of the trip Captain Rudy and his son expertly cleaned and filleted our catch and even recommended somewhere nearby that would cook it up for us since we were visiting from out of town. I highly recommend Papa Bear fishing charters to anyone and any experience level in fishing!

Our trip with Papa Bear’s fishing charter was one for the record books!  From the very beginning Captain Rudy was very accommodating when I needed to reschedule our trip.  He even changed his personal plans to accommodate our new date!  About 20 minutes into leaving the marina, First Mate Mike spotted a huge loggerhead turtle right next to the boat!  Started off hooking into a couple of nice mahi, black fin tuna, a bonito or two, then suddenly there was something MASSIVE on the line.  An hour and a half later, we had an 8ft lemon shark at the side of the boat!  We set off to another spot, where we had a big kingfish on the line that ended up being lunch for a bunch of bull sharks looking for an easy meal.  Getting towards the end of the day, we decided to spend the last couple of hours looking for a sailfish, the fish we were hoping to land on this trip.  Rudy and Mike got the sail out, and got some live bait on the rods.  Suddenly we had a fish on, and then quickly, another!  There it was, our sailfish!  This thing was doing somersaults on top of the water, and tail dancing, putting on a show, and a fight!  We finally got that trophy into the boat and it was simply amazing!  77.5” long and what a beauty!  They fileted the mahi we kept and gave us a recommendation to a local spot that would cook it up for us.  We cannot say enough good things about our time with Rudy and Mike.  They make a great team, super friendly, and we will definitely be back booking with them!

Definitely spring for the live bait - we caught a great fish on the live bait - huge 6-7 foot sailfish, with the help of Rudy and Ann. They were amazing in getting us on the fish and helping the three of us pretty novice level people in every way. It is clear that they know where the fish are biting, so definitely go on Papa Bear’s charter. Their boat is big (30 feet) and powerful and with a Riviera Beach pick-up, we were in the fishing grounds pretty quickly!
