These guys do everything possible to put you on the fish. We started the morning targeting mahi and yellowfin since the bite had been hot, and within about three hours we hit our mahi limit. After that, Captain Kevin asked if we wanted to keep chasing mahi and tuna or try our luck with marlin. We decided to troll for marlin, and the crew worked nonstopโswitching baits, covering water, and making every effort to get us hooked up.
About 2.5 hours later, we connected with a monster blue marlin. The next five minutes were absolutely electric. Unfortunately, the fish went wild, hit the main line, and broke offโbut thatโs fishing, not catching.
Captain Kevin and deckhand Manuel Jr. were outstanding. They hustled the entire trip, constantly changing lures, trying new spots, and most importantly, making sure we were having fun. The boat itself is a tankโcomfortable, spacious, and perfect for my girlfriend and me. Iโd highly recommend the Black Marlin crew and will definitely book with them again.
For anyone planning a trip, a quick note on costs: fishing licenses ran about $30 each, bait was around $40, fish cleaning is $5 per fish, and vacuum sealing/freezing is $3 per pound. Bring plenty of cash since Cabo ATMs charge steep fees, and USD is widely accepted.
