My wife and I had never really fished before. We decided on Blue Sea because of the great reviews. They did not disappoint. Caesar our captain tried all morning to find the Marlins but it was a quiet morning. He then headed to the coast and we snagged a rooster fish on the way in. My wife was thrilled as it was the first fish either one of us had caught. He was not coming back without us catching a fish! We then had it prepared for lunch right on the marina, it was fabulous to eat such a fresh fish. Great day!

Johnny was a great facilitator for the excursion. Speaks great English and was very accommodating when we had to change a few things with the reservation. Our two guys on the boat Roberto and Cesar were also great hosts and super friendly. Roberto was the one working the lines while Cesar drove. We stayed in-shore because part of our group didn’t want to go way out in fear of seasickness. We weren’t catching much in the beginning, but the thing I really appreciated was that they didn’t just say “oh well, nothings biting today” they instead asked if we wanted to do some “bottom fishing” and catch grouper instead so we did that and it went great! We caught 7 grouper once we switched gears so we got some good action doing that! Overall a great experience, would definitely do that again. One suggestion is bring a cooler with whatever you want to drink and a bunch of snacks, and also cash to pay for bait ($30 total), licenses ($20/ea), and tip for the boat crew.

My spouse and I took a vacation to Los Cabos for the first time and was looking into a fishing charter. Neither of us had Been to los Cabos fishing in Mexico before so we weren’t really sure what to expect. From first booking within an hour Johnny had messaged excited for our tour told us where to meet, the meeting time, and what we needed prior to so there were no surprises. We arrive via Uber to the marina, got our fishing license for the day and Johnny was ready to go before our start time.
The boat is smaller, but allows for more intimate experience. Johnny is very knowledgable on what to look for, patient and excited to share what he does with anyone that has the pleasure of boarding his boat! He even knew what fish we had on the line before we even got it up. Though, we weren’t a lucky one that day for a Marlon, we were happy to be out on the boat and got some incredible photos and videos of the fishing trip and had them biting within 20 mins of setting up!  Make sure to pack water and food for your day and you will have a great time.

First off, we had a great experience.  On the day that was originally scheduled the winds were severe and the owner called to cancel right as we were leaving our room.  We rescheduled for two days later.  Hector, the hand, and the Captain Bernardo did an excellent job overall.  Hector was very friendly and polite.  They tried a variety of different techniques until one finally paid off at the very end of our time, and I brought in a very nicely sized striped Marlin.  Hector did a great job coaching me through the fight, and Bernardo did a great job maneuvering the boat to make it as easy as possible.  I brought in a very hefty fish (Hector estimated 170 lbs but the guy at the cleaning station who filleted it said more like 130) on 80 lb test.  According to Hector, many other boats in the fleet hooked much smaller marlin and were having trouble getting the in. 

Aside from the fishing, we saw a whale briefly and my wife loved the pelicans and sea lions who tailed the boat as we came back into the harbor in hopes of handouts of leftover bait. 

The price was excellent, but for those of you who have not fished in Cabo before you should know there was a fair amount not included.  Licenses were $20/person, and live bait ended up totalling $40 (30 up front and then 10 more when we restocked partway through after using up the initial amount).  There’s an ATM right near the meeting place that dispenses USD, but with a fee of like $10 + 7% surcharge as I recall.  So maybe get your cash ahead of time.  Fish that you catch gets taken up to a filleting and processing place.  They charged $30 for the filleting and $3/lb for vacuum packing the fish.  No charge for freezing them if they vacuum pack them.  They sell insulated boxes and Cost-co style insulated shopping bags as well, for those who want to take their catch on the plane.  Also don’t forget to allow for tipping the captain and hand.

The big harbor parking building doesn’t open early, so your best bet is parking along Paseo del Marina; if you arrive early for your trip (ours started 6AM) then you shouldn’t have trouble finding a space on white-marked curb.  Don’t park in green or red.
