I had another great trip to Cabo fishing with this charter! The captain REALLY knows what he’s doing! I brought all my own gear and caught a variety of fish from the surface all the way down to 330ft on the bottom! Roosterfish, grouper, jacks, bonito and more! Water was too cold to chase snapper and Marlin but had a great time anyway. This is the very day after fishing a different charter with another company and they couldn’t find a single bite where I fished 5 hours and we got skunked. I’m ONLY booking with BlueSea sport fishing EVERY time I come to Cabo from now on. Money well spent!

Captain couldn’t speak English - didnt try to communicate - hard to know what was going on.

I’ve been fishing these waters for 23 years. I’ve fished around the world. I’ve always been out on 31’+ boats yet with Christmas this year I couldn’t fit in the budget. I was here in Cabo in 2020 when it was empty and it was a bonanza. The tourists have returned in enormous numbers and the entire sea was an armada of boats swarming upon any activity that occurred. The captain always seemed to be the first to find the fish, then, once we were hooked up, the other boats would swarm and we would leave with our catch. We caught some really nice sized Dorado. I missed a few but it happens. Make sure to double up on live bait EVERY time. You must demand it. The dorado were biting like mad and they wanted the Bollyhoo and not the Mackerel. The ones that got away would chew up the bollyhoo to bits without coming near the hook. You need to get fresh bait back in the water anytime there’s a school of fish nearby. Tuna are no different. If they’re not biting the lures and are only going for the live bait you need to be prepared.

The bait boat gave us double mackerel and I didn’t even notice. I almost always check. When there are so many boats going out the baitfish supply can run low. If you’re on a full day you can catch bait yet you waste valuable time. Get your live bait. Show up extra extra early. Parking is a challenge. Get your license online the night before your trip. Leave the rear to these guys they’re great!

Although the fishing wasn’t hot, we had a great day on the water. It was just me and captain Johnny on the boat. We hooked into a mahi early in the morning, and didn’t catch another for several hours. (Besides a skipjack in between). We lost 2 off the hook set, oh well🙄
I had never caught either of those fish so I consider it a win! I have fished enough to know that some days are just better than others and a day of fishing doesn’t mean a day of catching. Overall captain Johnny and I had great conversations and shared a lot of stories between one another. His gear is in good shape and his boat is clean. He worked hard to get me on some fish and took me over to the arch to get some photos. After that we had the fish filleted and I took them back to hotel to have them cooked by the chef.

This trip is geared more for the true angler or outdoorsman who wants to catch fish and enjoy the water, as opposed to someone looking for a luxury charter. Not to mention, it’s at a fantastic price point.  Bring some drinks, snacks, and a good attitude and captain will work his ass off to get you some fish. Thanks Johnny!
