Great day of fishing with Captain Manuel on the 22’ Panga. Nothing fancy but Manuel got us on two Mahi before 7:15am. We caught our limit by 10am and had a great time doing it. Boat had very little in amenities (no toilet) but the captain was knowledgeable and helped where we needed it. No need for fancy gear when you’re fishing with lifelong experts in the area. Boat had plenty of power for us. Quiet and no fumes or loud diesel noise. Just great fishing with basic techniques. We tried to catch marlin but the dorado wouldn’t stop biting! No complaints and thankful for a great day trip.

We thought Johnny was going to be our captain but he had surgery recently and couldn’t join us. Then we showed up in the morning to find some coordinating for Johnny from another company. He sent us to get the license and told us Jose would be our captain but then Jose didn’t feel good and eventually were told Manuel would take us. No issues but was confusing for a bit there.

Manuel recommended taking a whole fish to La Chatita for dinner for 4. Had amazing raw appetizers and delicious main course. Prices were pretty reasonable and food was very good especially the mahi Curricanes appetizer. So good we had to get it again with the Bonita. Excellent experience all around.

Only issue was that filet/freeze/vacuum company, mucho loco, wanted a lot of money for basic services. $3/fish to filet was no problem but wanted $3 per pound on top of fillet price for freeze/vacuum when there are nicer and cleaner shops in the marina that will fillet and freeze/vacuum for $1.75/pound total. They also have smoking options. I would not recommend mucho loco for their service. Have them drop you off somewhere else like Griselda’s for better more affordable service and much cleaner shop.

Perfect Father/Daughter trip! We were scheduled for Tuesday morning but a tropical storm blew through and Johnny was so flexible and gracious to set us up once port reopened two days later. Upon arrival we found out Johnny had a medical emergency night before but once again, he made sure we were all taken care of. His two buddies helped us get our license and to the right boat. Jose stepped in as our guide and was such a great guy!  We caught three Mahi in the first hour and then another bigger one later in the morning which ended up being the catch of the day. Jose helped us connect with a taxidermist as this one was definitely worth keeping. Jose then walked us with our other catch to the restaurant to help us make a reservation for lunch cooking the fish we caught.  This was by far the best shore to shore experience we’ve ever had, no need to look any further for any other options.

This was my and my husbands first deep sea fishing experience ever. It was amazing!!! Captain Johnny is awesome, he is kind and super friendly and honest. I’ve been to Cabo before and of everyone and every company I’ve ever done things through this was by far the best! Johnny is not pushy at all and eager to help you have the best experience out on the water. Couldn’t speak more highly of this company and highly recommend! We caught some really nice Mahi Mahi and really enjoyed our time. I would recommend going out in the morning even though it’s really early, you’ll stay cooler and catch more fish. !!! If you’re thinking of doing it, just do it, great experience.

Johnny was a good and personable captain. The bite was slow, but I guess that is how most of the charters have been. The boat is a perfect size for 3 or 4 guests. We trolled for a few hours and was only able to hook up to a small skipjack. We found a spot that we will call “Johnny’s Spot” and was able to catch 2 bucket list fish (rooster fish and a Mahi). We kept the Mahi and was able to get it cooked at La Cantita which was so delicious. We got Mahi 7 ways and it was 460 MX Pesos ($~25 USD) and it came with sides too. Good day overall. If trolling isn’t your thing, the live bait bite was a bit more productive.

The bite is super slow right now for a lot of outfits. Unfortunately it was for our trip as well. BUT that is fishing. We fish because we love the time on the water, the catch is just a bonus!

Johnny was awesome. He tried and tried to get us on the fish. Making phone calls to fellow anglers to see how the bite was on different areas of the island.  We had a few bites and a missed catch due to him getting off but regardless it was a blast.

The fishing season is switching gears currently so anyone who blames their guide probably has never fished before. Regardless of not catching the fish we wanted, it was a beautiful morning and sunrise on the ocean!

Also, dolphins and whales aplenty while fishing! What better views could you want!
