My wife and I recently had the absolute pleasure of going on the DOROTHY fishing charter, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had together. From start to finish, everything was handled with such care, professionalism, and a genuine love for what they do.

The two gentlemen who ran the charter were nothing short of amazing. They made us feel completely safe and comfortable, even when we were out in deeper waters. Their knowledge of the area, the equipment, and the fish was impressive, but what really stood out was how much they cared about making sure we had a great time. They were patient, kind, and truly passionate about sharing the joy of fishing.

Their hospitality and attention to detail turned a simple day of fishing into a memory my wife and I will cherish for years to come.

Our first deep sea experience didn’t disappoint. Capt and Gregory the first mate were awesome. We had our kids 12 & 9 with us and they were patient and friendly to them. We caught fish and had a chance at a sailfish. The crew worked hard trying to get the sailfish, but no luck. Roberto met us at the dock and made sure we were happy with everything. If 100% recommend these Dorthy to anyone looking for an affordable deep sea experience. 50 years of combined experience on the boat with the 2 guys we had.

We took the 4 hour afternoon trip. Roberto Tromp met us at the dock and introduced to Captain Rufolph and First Mate Jerry. They were very professional and friendly. We caught 7 keeper mahi mahi and had a wonderful time. Roberto met us at the dock at the conclusion of the trip. Rudolph cleaned the fish for us, and they even delivered the fish to the Driftwood restaurant. At the restaurant they prepared our 4 different ways. I highly recommend Roberto, the Dorthy and the crew. Also taking their advice and having the fish prepared at the Driftwood was great. We highly recommend, what a great experience.

If you’re interested in booking , call direct and tell them Gregory sent you… Gregory was our first mate and he was very attentive and helpful. The mates work on commission n tips only so, help him out n mention him on booking!

That said, Roberto with 60+ years experience born n raised in Aruba is the captain you want. Casual. Understanding. Personable. Him n Gregory both did their best to get fish on and made it a fun and super relaxing experience. The boat bought in 1991 will rival any out there. It’s clean (including the head) and comfortable. Top deck for views if you want to which was a nice unexpected option (though we didn’t go up bc the fishing is what we’re here for).

We caught two mahi mahi but one slipped off right before pulling on board 😢 no fault of us reeling or mate, simple issue of the darn sea weed swathes that tug on the lines. We were so happy to walk away with a meal 🐟 and a great day on the water. We also caught 3 bonito too. Saw a dolphin n had great convo and zen on the water.

My 13 year old son is an avid fisherman so we decided to book a 3/4 day charter with Dorothy as one of our primary excursions in Aruba. I was a little worried reading that fishing can be hit or miss in April, but Captain Roberto and mate Richard worked hard to get us on fish.

We ended up catching a 20-25 lb kingfish, 2 bonitas and an amberjack. Most importantly, Roberto and Richard were engaging and informative throughout our trip and made the entire 6 hour day on the water a pleasurable experience. Would definitely recommend this charter and if we come back to Aruba will no doubt support them with our business again.

Icing on the cake was Richard’s recommendation to have our catch sent to the Driftwood for preparation that night. Driftwood prepared us a feast, with the fish cooked 4 ways (grilled, blackened, creole, & garlic butter). It was absolutely incredible, easily the best meal we had on island.
