We really didn’t expect to make this trip, we had to reschedule a few times due to outside reasons. We finally hooked up with Esley yesterday and could not be more thrilled with the results. For most of the day we were hooking into Bonito 2 or 3 at a time.. Once the late afternoon bite hit though it was on, first the Barracuda then the Wahoo, amazing fight, amazing adventure, amazing memory!! Thanks again for all the hard work, flexibility, and knowledge!!

I went out with Esley Usher on a 4 hour reef fishing trip on April 19th and we caught 14 Lane Snapper in 4 different locations near the reef. It was a Sunday afternoon and I was the solo guest. He picked me in his boat at my hotel’s pier.  Esley is a life long Caye Caulker expert and knows these waters!  If you want to CATCH FISH go out with Esley.

Esley was able to pick us up at the dock of our airbnb on time. we went and cast netted some live bait and almost immediately caught some baracuda. we probally caught 8 baracuda in about 1.5 hours. Then we went to snapper fish pulling in 2 lane snapper and one mutton. Then we went diving lobster hotels and ended up with 13 keeper lobster. after this we went searching for conch. we ended up with 4 in about an hour. after this we went to the reserve and snorkled with sharks/stingrays/fish/etc in... More

Saw some fly fish and several dolphins on the way out. Started with catching a few Barracudas. Got a Mahi Mahi on the line and it was almost up when a quite big Lemon Shark took the Mahi Mahi and got on the hook and we took it in and then released it. Two Tunas was on the hook but where lost at least one due to a now following Lemon Shark. Caught two Mahi Mahi of which one was big (and a mackerel). All of this turned into really good Sashimi, Cerviche, fried and curry!!

Captain Usher went above and beyond on this full day fishing and snorkeling trip. We started with him netting herring for bait, then caught fish, and he filleted them for us to take home. We snorkeled on the coral reef, visited the marine sanctuary with nurse sharks and rays, then fed the tarpons back at the dock (my whole fist was in the tarpon’s mouth! But it only ate the herring I held up for it.)
