Awesome trip. Captain was great with kids and put us on a ton of fish. Would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to catch stripers. Can’t say enough nice things about the captain.
We’ve made this fishing trip an annual tradition, and this year’s trip with my son was especially meaningful as we did it before dropping him off for college. We always have a few charter options to choose from, and we were so lucky to have Andrew as our captain. Andrew was incredibly knowledgeable, smart, patient, and reassuring throughout the entire trip. Even with the weather looking a little uncertain in the morning, he put us at ease and made sure we felt confident and comfortable from start to finish. (It turned out to be a perfect weather after all!) And the fishing was fantastic! We caught so many fish and had an absolute blast! It was a memorable trip and a great way to spend some quality time together before this next chapter. We would absolutely book with Andrew again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great fishing experience!
Booked a four-hour trip with Capt. Andrew aboard the Showtime Sportfisher. Took off at 7 a.m. just after some weather moved through. Headed E., not too far off the beach, toward the Canal. The early part of the trip was glassy smooth, but the fish were hiding. Every now and then they'd pop up on the side scan sonar, just to the left or right of the boat, but we'd be just far enough away to not be on top of them. Capt. would circle back, find and adjust his line to compensate for drift, and head back to where he marked the fish, but by then they'd be "ghosts." Repeated this process for the first two hours of the trip. Capt. constantly called and radioed other charters who all help each other find fish for their guests. Their process works. We started running over huge 'piles' of fish on the sonar, run to the rods and drop the jigs, or squid lures, depending on the depth of the fish. The hard work paid off. We hooked up two fairly quickly, and my first fish was a 'keeper,' at 30" on the nose. After breaking the curse, we quickly hooked four more, including a 40" monster that Capt. Andrew said was going to make it to his website. If you want to catch fish, book this guy next summer.
My teenage son and I both agree that our trip with Showtime Fishing and Captain Andrew was nothing short of incredible! As soon as we boarded, Captain Andrew took the time to explain everything in detail, making sure we understood the equipment, techniques, and what to expect throughout the day. We knew we made the right choice before we even put a line in the water! The fishing action was unbelievable. We had our limit of stripers within the first three minutes of fishing, which set the tone for an unforgettable day! By the end of the trip, we had landed 21 stripers (one that was 40”) and even had the thrill of hooking onto a great white shark, something we will never forget! I do want to mention the one thing that stood out the most was Captain Andrew's ability to put us right on the fish. While other anglers in the area were struggling to get consistent action, we were catching fish all around them. His experience and understanding of the water made all the difference for us. It is also important for you to know that Captain Andrew proved age is just a number when it comes to fishing! His energy, enthusiasm, and expertise were evident throughout the entire trip, and he worked hard from start to finish to make sure we had the best possible experience. If you're looking for a charter captain who is knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and knows exactly where to find the fish, I highly recommend Showtime Fishing. We couldn't have asked for a better day on the water and are already looking forward to booking our next trip! When you do book, I highly recommend the hand jigging for stripers…that was a blast! I'm an avid fisherman, grew up in Boston fishing until I left in my 20's to the Midwest where I've fished for King Salmon, Coho, walleye . I've fished with many Captains in the waters of the Gulf and I have to say the day with Captain Andrew was one of the Best ever. I took my three grandson's , out for a day of Striper fishing. Captain Andrew consistently had us on fish, he was great with the boy's , always explaining the methods, what they were seeing on the graphs, details of the local fisheries. We boated 14 Stripers, one 41", lost 7 while fighting them and had three nice Slot Keepers that fed the gang that night. An Awesome day on the water. We had a blast with Captain Andrew. Took my father in law & my kids for his birthday & all of our arms are sore from all the reeling!! My kids are finally old enough to do these trips & we have been on quite a few but this was by far the best one we have been on together yet! Captain Andrew was extremely knowledgeable, helpful throughout the trip & was great with the kids. We took a noon trip for 4 hours & we had action pretty much the entire time. Will definitely plan on booking with Showtime Sportfishing again in the future!! Highly recommended!!!!
