We had a great day out with Strawberry Island Fishing Charter in Tofino. We caught some solid salmon and halibut, and the crew knew exactly where to take us.

The co-captains Luc and Joel were excellent and kept things light and fun, joking about showing us the big ones — and they definitely delivered. They gave clear instruction, knew the species well, and helped us land everything confidently. Super knowledgeable and easy to be around.

They also took care of processing and packing our catch, which made the whole experience easy from start to finish. Overall, a smooth, professional, and fun trip. Highly recommend if you’re fishing in the Tofino area.

What a great day of fishing!
My wife and I went out on June 22nd and the weather was not the best some large swells but captain Joel made the most of it. Navigating through a lot of debris Luc kept our lines clean and about 2 hours in we doubled up with 2 large salmon! Reels screaming Joel and Luc walked us through making sure we didn’t miss a fish of a lifetime. Unfortunately one salmon got off but We landed a 25lb King! She was a beaut!

About an hour later we got a smaller 7lb Coho (wife redeemed herself)

Even on a slow day of fishing the crew managed to put fish on the boat! We also saw a humpback breach completely out of the water and seals lurked waiting for an easy meal. Great way to see tofino from the water.

Luc and Joel never gave up. We ended up with 10 fish between myself and my kids. The gave us a bit of everything the west coast could offer. Changing locations for different species and constantly changing up gear to make the best of our trip. My kids had a great time and they gave the upmost time patience and respect to my family. I would highly recommend Strawberry Island.

Been fishing with Strawberry Island for 10ish years. I don’t know how many trips, but more than ten. We’ve filled a truck three times doing tuna trips. Caught the basset fish Ive ever caught, a monster halibut, with these guys too. I make a point to stay on the island every time I come because why would you do anything else? And the accommodations have always been good, and have only gotten better over the years. They even have one float home now with a fishing hole in the floor, for those people that can’t stop when they get back to land for the night.
Can’t say enough good things about this crew, Joel and Luke are the best. Last time I even brought the wife and daughter, and they had a blast as well. I may have to bring them more often as a result. There’s plenty to do in town, lots of good food. I’m told there’s surfing, but that’s not my bag. I’m looking forward to my next trip. Every time it’s like coming to second home. They’re a real addition to the family.
