My 5-year-old son and I booked a fishing trip with Derek, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Derek was fantastic with my son—patient, encouraging, and eager to teach him about fishing. Not only did my son learn a lot, but Derek also helped him catch plenty of fish, which made the trip even more exciting. At one point, I mentioned that my son had seen fishermen using a cast net on TV to catch minnows for bait. Derek went out of his way to make that happen, giving my son the chance to try it himself. It was one of the highlights of the trip and something he’ll remember for a long time. Derek was also very accommodating and flexible. He agreed to move our start time a couple of hours earlier to better fit our family’s schedule, which we greatly appreciated. He arrived on time, was professional throughout the trip, and clearly has a wealth of fishing knowledge. I highly recommend Derek to anyone looking for a great fishing experience, especially families with young children. We had an amazing time and will definitely be booking another trip with him in the future.

My 4year old son loved this trip. Captain Derek literally put us on fish the first cast. Knowledgeable and really solid at helping kids learn to fish. He even tailored the length of the trip to our schedule. Fantastic guide. We will be back to fish with him anytime we are in michigan.

I booked this as a fathers day gift for my husband to go with his dad and our oldest son. Everyone had a great time and these are memories to last a lifetime ❤️ caught too many fish to count and captain was very knowledgable and a kind host!

Capt Derek was an excellent guide and teacher. We caught a ton of fish and had a very good time. I would definitely recommend him. Can't wait to do it again.
