Bonnie the 8 hour trip you booked was a Full Day Salmon trip as stated in the description on this site.  I do have both a 6 hour halibut only trip or an 8 hour combo salmon and halibut trip.  I block those trips out on days that currents are running to fast to allow safe anchoring and proper fishing on the bottom.  So if you don’t see halibut trips offered on the date you want to fish…its not a day you can fish for halibut effectively and if I did offer it I would be just taking your money.  Victoria and Sooke (and others) lost their St Jeans Cannery drop off depots when Covid shut the entire industry down for months back in 2020.  They have not re-opened and now the St Jeans plant in Nanaimo is the closest place to leave fish if you want to have it shipped home.  Most people buy a cooler and check it onro the plane and take it home with them…which has always been the safest for not having the fish go MIA.  I hope you enjoy your 5 hatchery Coho (1 shy of your 3 person limit) and the 2 pik salmon.  Yes very true I have no control over the ratio of wild to hatchery Coho and it is frustrating to let so many nice fish go while these rules are in place.  Rules in place since 1998 and counting.
